Yemen Strikes Are Another Nail in Joe Biden's Coffin for Muslim Voters

News - World: Airstrikes in Yemen launched on the orders of President Joe Biden appear to be another nail in his coffin for Arab and Muslim voters, Newsweek interviews with activists and community members suggest.

Newsweek quoted Edward Ahmed Mitchell, deputy executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), saying on Friday that the civil rights group is "deeply disturbed" by the "illegal" airstrikes in Yemen.

"We're deeply disturbed to see the Biden administration escalating this crisis by bombing Yemen without congressional approval, instead of simply addressing the root of the crisis, which is the ongoing genocide in Gaza," Mitchell said.

According to Newsweek, a coalition of Muslim Americans in critical swing states have gone as far as to start a # AbandonBiden campaign, urging voters to not reelect the president in 2024 because of his response to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

"The majority of Muslims have told us and shared with us in our mosques and our community groups, they can never see themselves voting for the president in the upcoming election," Jaylani Hussein, director of the Minnesota chapter of the CAIR.

The polls have also tracked a growing problem for the Biden campaign as Muslim voters share their dissatisfaction with the president.

Emgage released a survey in early November 2023 that found just 5.2 percent of Muslim Americans it sampled said they would vote for Biden in 2024.

In the early hours of Friday, the US and Britain, backed by Bahrain, Australia, Canada, and the Netherlands, struck more than 60 targets at almost 30 locations in Yemen, killing five people and injuring six others.

Yemen's Armed Forces have been attacking Israel-bound ships transiting the Red Sea in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza and have stated that they will continue until Israel withdraws from the Gaza Strip.

Israel launched its hostilities in Gaza on October 7 after the Palestinian Hamas resistance carried out an unprecedented operation against the usurping entity in retaliation for its intensified atrocities against the Palestinian people.

So far, the Tel Aviv regime has killed nearly 24,000 people, mostly women and children, in Gaza.
