Yemeni Armed Forces Announce Targeting British Oil Tanker in Gulf of Aden

News - Yemen: Yemeni Armed Forces announced, Friday, that they have carried out a targeting operation against a British oil tanker in the Gulf of Aden.

The military spokesperson for the Armed Forces, Brigadier General Yahya Sare’e, stated in a press release that the operation was carried out by the naval forces. The oil tanker, Marlin Luanda, was targeted with a number of appropriate anti-ship missiles, resulting in a direct hit and subsequent fire.

He affirmed that the Yemeni Armed Forces continue their operations in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea against Israeli ships or those heading to the occupied ports of Palestine until the Israeli aggression against Gaza is halted and food and medicine are allowed to enter.

The Armed Forces reiterated their commitment to taking all necessary military measures to defend Yemen and expressed their continued practical solidarity with the Palestinian people.

Over the past month, the Yemeni Armed Forces have been staging many such strikes against Israeli vessels or those bound for the occupied Palestinian territories' ports.

The operations have been described as a response to the October 7-present war and siege that the Israeli regime has been waging against Gaza following an operation carried out by the Palestinian territory's resistance movements.

Around 26,000 Palestinians, some 70 percent of whom are women, children, and adolescents, have been killed in the brutal onslaught so far.

The United States and the UK have also conducted several missile attacks against Yemeni targets in response to the Yemeni strikes.

The latest operation raises the number of American ships targeted by the Yemeni Armed Forces to six since January 10, following an attack on three Yemeni naval boats by US forces, resulting in the martyrdom and loss of ten Navy personnel on December 30.

Previous naval operations targeted US-owned, linked to Zionist enemy ships:

From November 19, 2023, until January 12, 2024, the Yemeni Armed Forces executed 15 naval operations targeting 18 ships, including three owned by the Zionist enemy entity, five American ships, and 10 ships heading to the Israeli entity, as follows:
