9 Years of Yemeni Resistance against US Influence Continues Unabated

Yemen:  As February 11 approaches once again, it brings to mind numerous pivotal moments in Yemen's history. Between February 11, 2011, and February 11, 2015, the Yemeni landscape witnessed events filled with American arrogance.

During the first period, Washington aimed to tighten its grip on Yemen through devious means. In the second phase, the United States withdrew from Yemen, leaving behind the remnants of its defeat. The September 21 Revolution returned Yemeni sovereignty from within the American embassy and its operations rooms scattered throughout various sovereign government institutions to the hands of Yemenis, far removed from foreign dictates and commands that had lingered over Yemenis for decades.

On the eve of the 11th of February, Yemenis recall their revolution against oppression, tyranny, guardianship, and domination. They rose with fervor in search of lost glory, demanding just rights that were neither impossible nor illegitimate for the people to attain. Meanwhile, the regime at the time proved inadequate to address the people's demands responsibly. It resorted to numerous bloody methods, including continuous attacks. As the revolution persisted and gained momentum, arrogant foreign powers conspired anew. They manipulated internal forces to ride the wave of the revolution, divert its course, and distort its demands. However, it was the September 21st Revolution that undermined all the plans of greedy enemies, returning them to square one.

In the aftermath of February 11, 2011, dramatic changes unfolded. The popular base affiliated with the Ansarullah movement intensified the revolution, standing against colonial schemes fostered by the Gulf Initiative. This initiative sought to enhance foreign intervention, cement American-Saudi-Emirati dominance, and impose divisive projects on the country and its social, religious, and cultural fabric. The September 21 Revolution served as a model for genuine Yemeni revolutions untainted by external hands. It reinforced the people's adherence to just and legitimate demands, prioritizing the people's interests over illegitimate foreign agendas.

Despite ongoing efforts by Washington, Riyadh, and Abu Dhabi to entrench hegemony since the signing of the Gulf Initiative, the September 21st Revolution and its leaders persisted in upholding just and legitimate demands. They thwarted attempts to undermine the people's freedom and decision-making. However, despite the revolution's diplomatic overtures of goodwill, foreign powers sought to maintain control, disregarding the revolution's tolerant and reconciliatory principles.

The revolution reinstated Yemeni sovereignty, yet arrogant foreign powers failed to respect its diplomatic gestures. The revolutionaries protected embassies in Sana'a, refraining from targeting them, and fostered partnerships within the country. However, foreign nations, viewing their presence in Yemen as futile after the Yemeni decision-makers regained control, failed to acknowledge the revolution's magnanimity.

Some scenes of defeat provided solace to the Yemenis. Sources confirm that the revolutionaries did not allow the US Marines to enter Sana'a Airport armed, but rather enforced the law on everyone, including Americans. Eventually, the last resort was to break their weapons, symbolizing the collapse of America's dream of occupying Yemen. Subsequently, Washington wanted its allies to follow suit, so it pressured Gulf states and various European countries aligned with the American decision to withdraw from Sana'a. Despite the September Revolution's keenness to maintain fraternal relations with neighboring countries and enhance friendly diplomatic relations worldwide, it was unable to withstand the hegemonic forces that oppressed the Yemeni people.

Days after the humiliating American withdrawal on February 11, 2015, and the dissipation of the aspirations of hegemonic countries, Washington and its tools began to intensify international pressure on Yemen. After the withdrawal of embassies and a series of preparatory steps, these forces launched an aggression against Yemen on March 26, 2015. Hegemonic forces embarked on a retaliatory battle against the Yemeni people, paving the way with several steps, including incapacitating the military, dismantling missile and air capabilities, and other preparatory measures aimed at undermining the revolution of February 11, 2011. These events confirm Washington's longstanding lurking over Yemen.

After nine years of aggression and attempts to impose occupation and regain hegemony over Yemen, America's ambitions were met with a new Yemeni blow. Following the September Revolution's inspiration for all revolutionaries to advance towards achieving their goals despite Washington's attempts to suppress them, free revolutionaries crowned the liberation struggle with heroic missile, air, and naval operations to chase American influence on land, sea, and air. They conducted ambush operations against Zionist-American ships, warships, frigates, and gas fleets in the Red and Arabian Seas. Here, Yemenis mark the beginning of a new phase to eradicate American arrogance, which failed to understand the revolution's objectives and the determination of the revolutionaries from the outset. Washington tasted defeat, sinking to the depths of the sea while Yemen soared high in the skies of freedom and independence.

US Humiliating Retreat and Retaliatory Return

After Washington and its allies lost hope in reversing Yemeni sovereignty and failed to deceive the September Revolution as they did on February 11, 2011, the United States was forced to make a humiliating exit from Yemen on February 11, 2015. This scene reflected the pride of the revolution and its free revolutionaries.
