"British ship, LYCAVITOS, was targeted accurately with appropriate naval missiles," the Yemeni Armed Forces spokesman Yahya Sare’e said in a statement issued on Thursday evening.
The Armed Forces reiterated their commitment to providing support to the Palestinian people in Gaza by preventing Israeli navigation or vessels heading to the occupied Palestinian ports in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea until the aggression stops.
The statement also indicated that the Armed Forces are "taking further measures in response to the US-UK aggression in defense of Yemen and as a reaffirmation of support for Palestine."
The Yemeni armed forces called on all free people from Islamic nation to take practical and serious stances in support of our brothers in the Gaza Strip and in rejection of Zionist crimes.
They stated, "We will face the American-British escalation with escalation and will not hesitate to carry out extensive and qualitative military operations in response to any recklessness."
The Armed Forces highlighted that all American and British ships in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea are legitimate targets as long as the aggression against Yemen persists.
They emphasized that this operation is a triumph for the just cause of the Palestinian people, who continue to face ongoing Israeli aggression, and it is part of the response to the US-British aggression against Yemen.
Over the past month, the Yemeni Armed Forces have been staging many such strikes against Israeli vessels or those bound for the occupied Palestinian territories' ports.
The operations have been described as a response to the October 7-present war and siege that the Israeli regime has been waging against Gaza following an operation carried out by the Palestinian territory's resistance movements.
Around 27,000 Palestinians, some 70 percent of whom are women, children, and adolescents, have been killed in the brutal onslaught so far.
The United States and the UK have also conducted several missile attacks against Yemeni targets in response to the Yemeni strikes.
The latest Yemeni operation raises the number of American ships targeted by the Yemeni Armed Forces to nine since January 10, following an attack on three Yemeni naval boats by US forces, resulting in the martyrdom and loss of ten Navy personnel on December 30.
20 Previous Naval Operations Targeted 23 Ships
From November 19, 2023, to January 31, 2024, the Yemeni Armed Forces carried out 20 naval operations, targeting 23 ships. These included three ships owned by the Israeli entity, nine American ships, including warships, one British oil tanker, and ten ships heading to the occupied Palestinian ports. Several ships changed their course in response to warnings from the Yemeni Navy.
On November 19, the Yemeni Naval Forces carried out a military operation in the Red Sea, resulting in the seizure of an Israeli ship, Galaxy Leader, and taking it to the Yemeni coast.
On December 3, the Yemeni Naval Forces targeted two Israeli ships in the Bab el Mandeb Strait, United Explorer and Number 9, with a naval missile targeting the first ship and a maritime drone targeting the second.
On December 12, the Yemeni Naval Forces carried out a qualitative military operation against the Norwegian ship, Strinda, loaded with oil and heading to the Israeli entity, targeting it with a suitable naval missile.
On December 14, the Yemeni Naval Forces executed a military operation against the container ship, Maersk Gibraltar, heading to the Israeli entity, with a direct hit from a maritime drone.
On December 15, the Yemeni Naval Forces carried out a military operation against two container ships, MSC Alanya and MSC PALATIUM III, heading to the Israeli entity, targeting them with two suitable naval missiles.
On December 18, the Yemeni Naval Forces carried out a qualitative military operation against two ships linked to the Zionist entity, the first being the Swan Atlantic, loaded with oil, and the other being the MSC Clara carrying containers, targeting them with two naval drones.
On December 26, the Armed Forces announced the success of a dual operation targeting the ship MSC United with a naval missile and hitting Um Al-Rishrash with reconnaissance drones in support of the Palestinian people.
On December 31, the Armed Forces announced the success of a naval operation targeting the container ship Maersk Hangzhou, heading to the occupied ports of Palestine.
On January 3, the Armed Forces confirmed the targeting of the ship CMA CGM TAGE, heading to the occupied ports of Palestine.
On January 10, the Armed Forces announced that the Naval Forces, Rocketry Force, and the Air Force carried out a joint military operation with a large number of ballistic and naval missiles and drones targeting an American ship supporting the Zionist entity. This operation came as an initial response to the treacherous attack suffered by the Yemeni Naval Forces by the US forces on December 31.
