In a statement on Saturday, the Ministry confirmed that the sinking of the dilapidated ship Coral in Aden port resulted in the leakage of about 100 metric tons of Mazut, which may lead to the death of tons of fish and marine organisms on the shores of Aden.
The statement considered the sinking of the ship a serious threat to the environment and marine life in the region, affecting the food source and income for a large segment of citizens in Aden.
The Ministry of Fish Wealth condemned the negligence and disregard of the port management for the disaster of the shipwreck and the resulting oil spill, and its failure to take any measures so far to mitigate its effects on the near and far-reaching environment and marine resources.
It pointed out the presence of more than 10 other dilapidated ships threatened with sinking off the coast of Aden, which have become ticking time bombs threatening the marine environment and the infrastructure of Aden port, which serves only the ambitions of the Emirati occupation.
The ministry called for the necessity of taking necessary measures to address the oil spill and protect the marine environment in Aden, warning of the danger of the sinking of other ships, which threatens to repeat and expand the size of the disaster and destroy the marine environment.
It called on all activists and media outlets to shed light on this danger and the need to act to protect the environment and marine life in the port of Aden.
In 2015, Saudi and Emirati forces entered the city of Aden from Bir Ali, citing the need to repel "Ansarullah intervention and secure international navigation". It didn't take long after the arrival of these forces for the new British-style experiment to take shape.
Since then, Aden and other southern governorates have grappled with pervasive security issues, including daily crimes and instability. Forces aligned with the US-Saudi aggression and Saudi-Emirati occupation maintained control without addressing important issues in the country, contributing to a climate of chaos.
Meanwhile, many scrapped ships in very bad condition continue to exist in the hijacker throwing area called "Almikhtaf," located in Aden port, still causing serious pollution of the marine environment and obstructing navigation.
