Yemeni Parliament Denounces Western Crackdown on Pro-Palestine Demonstrators
News - Yemen: Yemeni Parliament has strongly condemned the ongoing arbitrary actions by Western governments against peaceful demonstrators in several American and Western universities who are protesting the Israeli aggression on Gaza.
During Sunday's session, the Parliament emphasized that these measures contradict the principles of justice and democracy that Western governments claim to champion.
It urged the international community to denounce these actions and uphold the will of the people.
The Parliament also expressed disappointment at the continued lack of support from Arab and Islamic nations and called on the public to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian cause.
Since October 7, the United States has provided unwavering military and intelligence support to the Israeli regime, which has unleashed a devastating war resulting in the deaths of over 34,683 Palestinians, the majority of whom are women and children.
Across America, students have been protesting their universities' ties to Israel and Washington's full-fledged backing of the atrocities.
According to Reuters, tent protests have sprung up on campuses nationwide, including at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, and California State Polytechnic in Humboldt.
Furthermore, academics across the US have united under the banner of Faculty and Staff for Justice in Palestine (FSJP) to express solidarity with the Palestinians affected by the war.
Recently, the FSJP chapter in Georgia urged Morehouse College in Atlanta, which has invited Joe Biden as its commencement speaker for 2024, to rescind the invitation in protest against the president's complicity in enabling the Israeli aggression.
