News - World: The European mission in the Red Sea, known as "ASPIDES," reported on Tuesday that one of its vessels came under attack during encounters with Yemeni drones in the Gulf of Aden. 

On Tuesday, ASPIDES confirmed that the Italian frigate Virginio Fasan engaged with several drones belonging to the Yemeni Armed Forces, acknowledging that the Yemeni drones inflicted damage on the Italian vessel.

The European statement comes after international media outlets reported news of the Italian frigate being hit. International agencies quoted maritime sources as saying that an explosion rocked one side of the frigate, indicating a direct hit.

Observers believe that the targeting of the Italian frigate may compel Rome to withdraw its warships, similar to other European countries that have withdrawn their military assets from the Red Sea after facing Yemeni attacks, which have become a real nightmare for Western American influence in the region.
