News - Yemen: Yemeni private universities have voiced their support for the solidarity movement initiated by American universities in support of Gaza. They view this action as a testament to a growing awakening of conscience that challenges American Zionist dominance.

In a joint statement issued on Tuesday, several private universities condemned the suppression and persecution faced by American university students during their peaceful demonstrations in solidarity with Gaza and their rejection of support for the Zionist entity.

The statement reaffirmed the commitment of Yemeni private universities to stand alongside the Palestinian people in their resilience against Zionist occupation through all available means. It strongly condemned the ongoing Israeli aggression against Gaza as an egregious act of war that cannot be overlooked.

Calling upon the international community to intervene and halt these atrocious crimes, the statement urged decisive action to end Israeli aggression and alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people.

Yemeni private universities also called upon freedom-loving individuals worldwide to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian cause and support their just struggle. They commended the liberation movements in various African countries, particularly Niger and its neighboring nations, for their resistance against American and European hegemony.

On April 18, students and academics opposed to the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip began a sit-in at Columbia University in New York City, demanding that its administration cease academic cooperation with Israeli universities and withdraw investments in companies supporting the occupation of Palestinian territories.

As police intervened and arrested dozens of protesters at American universities, the anger spread, leading to protests at universities in countries such as France, Britain, Germany, Canada, and India, all in solidarity with their counterparts at American universities, demanding an end to the war on Gaza and a boycott of companies supplying Israel with weapons.

Since October 7, 2023, the Zionist enemy has waged a devastating war on Gaza, resulting in tens of thousands of martyrs and casualties, mostly children and women, massive destruction, and famine claiming the lives of children and the elderly.
