Pro-aggression media outlets reported that the demonstrations were accompanied by chaos, riots, and blockades of major roads.
Enraged protesters set fire to damaged car tires to block main roads and disrupt traffic, protesting the collapse of the electricity service in the oil and gas-rich occupied province. They also criticized the government's negligence and failure to find solutions to the electricity crisis.
According to sources, the so-called Hadhrami Elite Militia, affiliated with the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and funded by the Emirati occupation, dispersed the protesters by force. The Elite Militia reportedly fired live ammunition at protesters in the Dees area of Mukalla. They also deployed throughout the city streets after angry citizens reopened closed roads.
This comes amid escalating anger and popular discontent among citizens in the occupied southern and eastern provinces due to the collapse of the electricity system in many of these provinces. The pro-aggression government has failed to provide the necessary fuel to operate power plants and save citizens from the intense summer heat.
