CNN reported that over 2,400 students participating in pro-Palestinian demonstrations were arrested by American police.
According to CNN, police records and court files revealed the arrest of over 2,400 students, along with at least 50 university professors, as protests unfolded across more than 50 American universities.
At George Washington University, President Ellen Greenberg expressed regret for the events unfolding in Gaza for the first time since protests began.
Greenberg's statement came during a meeting between student protest organizers and the university president in Washington, D.C., as reported by students in a press conference following the meeting.
Meanwhile, sympathetic students at George Washington University re-established tents on campus grounds two days after their previous sit-in was disbanded by police.
Arizona State University announced that it had placed its police chief on compulsory leave to investigate complaints regarding his role in dispersing student protests late last month.
In a statement, the university's internal investigator's office ordered a review of the procedures related to the police dispersal of student sit-ins on April 26th and 27th, with results to be announced upon completion.

In Britain, students at the University of Cambridge continued their open sit-in for the 6th consecutive day at a solidarity camp with Palestine.

The camp has garnered significant support from academics, artists, and city residents showing solidarity with protesting students.
At Oxford University, students continued their sit-in in solidarity with Gaza for the 5th day, alongside organizing several events within the university.
In Finland, student sit-ins at the University of Helsinki continued for the 5th consecutive day, condemning the Israeli war on Gaza and including a solidarity stand.
Across America, students have been protesting their universities' ties to Israel and Washington's full-fledged backing of the atrocities.
According to Reuters, tent protests have sprung up on campuses nationwide, including at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, and California State Polytechnic in Humboldt.
Furthermore, academics across the US have united under the banner of Faculty and Staff for Justice in Palestine (FSJP) to express solidarity with the Palestinians affected by the war.
Recently, the FSJP chapter in Georgia urged Morehouse College in Atlanta, which has invited Joe Biden as its commencement speaker for 2024, to rescind the invitation in protest against the president's complicity in enabling the Israeli aggression.
