Trump Claims Biden Tried to have Him Assassinated

News - World: Donald Trump claims incumbent US President Joe Biden wanted armed agents to shoot him during a 2022 search of his Mar-a-Lago estate for classified files.

This is the first time in the modern history of the United States that a former president accuses his successor of trying to kill him.

In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump said President Biden was “locked & loaded ready to take me out” during the search in the summer of 2022.

He said that he had been shown reports indicating “that Crooked Joe Biden’s DOJ, in their Illegal and UnConstitutional Raid of Mar-a-Lago, authorized the FBI to use deadly (lethal) force.”

“He thinks he can frighten me, intimidate me, and KNOCK ME DOWN!"

“You know they're just itching to do the unthinkable,” the former president wrote.

He appeared to be referring to newly unsealed court filings related to documents that were uncovered at his Florida estate after he left office.

The filing included standard FBI wording stating that agents are allowed to use deadly force if someone is in imminent danger.

During the raid, federal agents discovered over 100 classified records.

On the day of the search, Trump was not there.

According to the Washington Post, what Trump claims now is an extraordinary distortion of a standard FBI policy on the use of deadly force during search operations.

In a rare statement, the bureau said Tuesday night that it had “followed standard protocol in this search as we do for all search warrants, which includes a standard policy statement limiting the use of deadly force.”

“No one ordered additional steps to be taken and there was no departure from the norm in this matter.”

Trump’s remarks drew criticism from Democratic Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, who described Trump's remarks as "outlandish and dangerous.”

And David Axelrod, a White House aide under Barack Obama, said the former president’s claims are "patently nuts...and dangerously provocative.”

President Biden and Trump will face off in the presidential election in November.
