News - Yemen: The National Committee for Prisoners Affairs announced its intention to release more than 100 prisoners from the US-Saudi mercenaries in a unilateral humanitarian initiative.

The head of the committee, Abdulqader Al-Murtada, clarified in a tweet on the "X" that the initiative comes under the directives of the leader of the revolution, Sayyed Abdulmalik Al-Houthi, and will be carried out Saturday.

Al-Murtada stated that details regarding the release process will be disclosed in a subsequent press statement.

This initiative by Sanaa comes as part of efforts to enhance prisoner exchange and create a positive environment that contributes to advancing the peace process in Yemen.

The negotiations for a prisoner exchange deal in Yemen are facing significant hurdles. Despite efforts from the National Committee for Prisoners' Affairs to move forward with the exchange deal, disruptions, particularly by US-Saudi mercenaries, have impeded progress. The recent disruption of planned prison visits in Marib further complicated the situation.

The President of the National Committee for Prisoners' Affairs emphasized the humanitarian importance of resolving this issue and expressed Sana'a's readiness to engage in negotiations for a comprehensive release of all prisoners. However, the obstruction from the Saudi-backed parties continues to pose challenges.
