During the event, attended by several members of the Supreme Political Council, government, Parliament, and Shura Council, as well as senior civil and military leaders and social figures, several speeches emphasized the importance of unity as an exceptional achievement for the Yemeni people.
In his speech, Prime Minister Abdulaziz bin Habtoor affirmed that Yemen is united, with unification supporters present throughout both north and south Yemen, dismissing the relevance of mercenaries and agents.
Bin Habtoor stated, "Those who have the right to celebrate Unity Day are those in Sana'a, and those lounging in hotels in Riyadh are the last ones who should talk about unity."
Regarding the axis of resistance and Yemen's active role in supporting the Palestinian people, the Prime Minister said, "We are fulfilling our duty, our operations continue, and have reached the Mediterranean Sea. We are committed to being part of the axis that ensures the Palestinian cause remains alive."
Elsewhere in his remarks, Bin Habtoor stated, "We salute the meeting held in Tehran for the leaders of the resistance who are charting the path for the remaining liberation of Palestine and to keep the banner of Islam flying high."
People of Southern and Eastern Provinces Take Pride in Unity
Ahmed Ghaleb Al-Rahwi, a member of the Supreme Political Council, in his speech, highlighted the importance of the Unity Agreement, which stipulated that the international personalities of both parties dissolve under the name of the Republic of Yemen.
Al-Rahwi added, "We, the people of the southern and eastern provinces, take pride in this unity and must review international agreements." He stressed that unity is not a political issue for debate but a religious matter tied to divine commands for unity and solidarity.
Regarding support for the oppressed in Gaza, Al-Rahwi said, "It is our principle to support our people in Gaza, and we will always stand by them until victory is achieved, the aggression stops, and the siege is lifted."
The national day of Yemen is known as Unity Day. It commemorates the unification of North Yemen and South Yemen that took place on May 22, 1990.
President Mahdi Al-Mashat announced in his May 22 speech the postponement of the official celebration of the National Day from Wednesday to Sunday, in solidarity with the Iranian people following the tragedy involving the president and his companions.
