IAEA’s Political Resolution Won’t Hinder Iran’s Nuclear Development: Interim FM
News - Middle East: Iran’s interim foreign minister says a politically-motivated resolution issued by the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will fail to impede efforts by the Islamic Republic to implement its nuclear development plans.
Ali Bagheri Kani made the remarks in an address to the foreign ministerial meeting of the member states of the BRICS group of countries in the Russian city of Nizhny Novgorod on Monday.
He said the move by the three European parties to the 2015 nuclear deal - Britain, France and Germany - to spearhead the IAEA resolution against Tehran was in line with their failed policies to abuse international mechanisms to obtain their own political goals against independent countries.
The E3 move against Iran will cause more tension, Bagheri Kani said.
The interim foreign minister said Tehran will continue to cooperate with the IAEA based on its rights and commitments stipulated in the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) and the Safeguards Agreement.
