News - Yemen: Yemeni Security Forces announced on Monday they dismantled a significant espionage network working for the United States and Israel, involved in espionage and sabotage activities across various state institutions for decades.

According to a statement from the Security Forces, the network was directly linked to the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and had obtained highly sensitive information about various aspects of life in Yemen, including military, security, economic, agricultural, health, and educational fields.

The statement indicated that members of the network had exploited their roles at the US Embassy in Sana'a to carry out their subversive activities. They continued their agendas even after the embassy departed from the country in 2014, operating under the guise of international and UN organizations.

“The exposed network collected important information in various fields and carried out direct espionage technical operations on behalf of the enemy’s intelligence services to obtain confidential, sovereign information,” said Major General Abdul Hakim Hashem Al-Khaiwani, head of Yemen’s Security and Intelligence Service, in a televised statement.

Al-Khaiwani added that the US-Israeli-led espionage network had recruited officials within the Yemeni government to influence decision-makers and infiltrate state agencies.

Spies also carried out operations to spread diseases in Yemen to target its health system, he said, adding that the network had promoted “moral corruption” to undermine the education system in the country.

The network had provided intelligence to the US and Israeli militaries to help them hit Yemeni infrastructure used to target Israeli and US-linked ships in regional waters.

Supreme Security Committee Praises Major Security Victory in Sana'a

The Supreme Security Committee discussed the latest arrangements to announce a major security victory.

During a meeting in Sana'a, the committee expressed its appreciation for the efforts made by the security services and honorable citizens who played a prominent role, after Allah, in achieving this significant security milestone.

Deputy Prime Minister for Security and Defense Affairs, Jalal Al-Ruwaishan, hailed the achievement as a great victory for the Yemeni people in their ongoing battle against aggression for over 15 years since the recruitment of these cells.

"Undoubtedly, this success is the result of the wisdom and sagacity of Sayyed Abdulmalik in managing the confrontation against the multi-faceted aggression, in which we have moved from the domestic level to the regional and global levels," he stated.

Al-Ruwaishan noted that this security achievement honors the blood of the martyrs, the wounded, and the sacrifices made by the Yemeni people during their steadfastness throughout this period.

"We are in a phase of confronting the global arrogant powers, facing all the military, economic, and political pressures imposed on the Yemeni society, its leadership, government, people, Armed Forces, and security," he added.

Al-Ruwaishan expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the field operatives conducting such operations, describing them as the strong arm of the security agencies working on the ground.

He emphasized that the Yemeni people, including its leadership, government, and citizens, remain vigilant, ready, and persevering.

The uncovering comes as Yemen is carrying out a series of extensive military operations against Israel, the US, and Britain as part of a campaign to support the people of Gaza in the face of Israeli aggression that has killed more than 37,000 people in the Palestinian territory since it started in October last year.

Yemen first started targeting Israeli-linked ships and Israeli ports in November, but drone and missile attacks expanded later to cover US and British ships after the two countries launched airstrikes on Yemen to force it to stop its anti-Israeli operations.
