June 28, 2015: 3 Martyrs and the Destruction of 4 Homes in Airstrikes on the Fala Area in Saada
On this day, June 28, 2015, the US-Saudi aggression targeted the Fala area in the Sahar district of Saada province with several airstrikes. The strikes resulted in 3 martyrs: a girl, a woman, and an elderly man, the destruction of more than 4 homes, damage to neighboring citizens' properties and farms, and renewed waves of displacement towards caves and mountains.
The head of the family narrates how and when his wife and daughter were targeted, saying, "At 11 a.m., my wife and daughter went out to get some water from the tank next to the house for noon prayer. Before they could do that, we heard the airstrikes on the house, destroying it along with three neighboring homes. My wife and daughter were martyred, just like the elderly man who had been a guest at one of our neighbors' homes since the previous day and remained inside the house after everyone else had left. The aggression turned him into torn remains amidst the destruction and rubble at a distance."
The family head continues, "After the airstrikes, we searched for the bodies of the martyrs, and until now, we have only found my wife's body and parts of the guest's body. Every time the locals gathered to search for the martyrs' bodies, the aggression's planes returned to hover over the crime scene. Even now, in the afternoon, my daughter remains missing."
The savage airstrikes mix with the pure blood and torn remains, amidst the ominous destruction, as the search continues for the body of a little girl still missing under the rubble. One of the locals stands on the debris, speaking in pain and anguish, questioning, "What do the Al Saud, the Umayyad successors, want from these remains, from the blood spilled in cities, villages, markets, and roads wherever the Yemeni people are? What do these criminal, unjust agents of America and Israel want? Soldiers of Satan, all of this is due to the distance from God and His teachings; such brutality is unbecoming of anyone claiming to belong to Islam or innate nature, marking them as murderers, war criminals, butchers of peoples' blood."
Among the rescuers, one approaches carrying part of an arm thrown by the explosive airstrike to the area's outskirts, placing it beside the remains of one of the martyrs. Amidst fear of the hovering planes and the threat of renewed airstrikes, the locals bravely and cautiously work to minimize human losses, which delays identifying the exact location.
Homelessness: A Common Link Among Saada's People
With the deliberate targeting of citizens' homes as a strategic and systematic policy, all the area's residents are deprived of their homes, even if spared, expecting them to be targeted, thus joining the ranks of the homeless. The mountains, trenches, and caves become the refuge for those whose homes are destroyed and those whose homes are still standing, uniting all of Saada's people in shared suffering under the title "Homeless."
The crime of targeting homes over their residents' heads in the Fala area of Saada is a full-fledged war crime and one of thousands of crimes by the aggression against the Yemeni people over 9 years, a disgrace on the forehead of the international community, the United Nations, and humanitarian and human rights organizations, and another nail in the coffin of the International Criminal Court.
One Martyr and 3 Wounded in a Nursery Targeting
In the same province and on the same day, June 28, 2015, the US-Saudi aggression targeted a nursery in the Al-Anad area, Sahar district. The airstrikes resulted in one martyr, three wounded, the destruction of the nursery, damage to neighboring citizens' properties, and a state of terror and fear among their families and neighbors.
The injured were transferred to one of Saada's hospitals for medical care after shrapnel from the airstrikes broke some of their limbs, burned some faces, and caused chest wounds, with their conditions critical.
Targeting nurseries and their occupants is an attack on civilian objects, a war crime that resulted in martyrs and wounded, unrelated to military targets, confirming the aggression's intent to target everything moving on Saada's ground, spilling its residents' blood indiscriminately.
Scorched Earth Policy
In another context in the same province and on the same day, June 28, 2015, the US-Saudi aggression targeted the homes of Al-Hatfi family and Al-Zahra Girls' School in the Fout area, Haydan district, with 10 brutal airstrikes. The strikes wounded a woman, caused extensive destruction to homes and citizens' properties, completely destroyed Al-Zahra Girls' School, and spread fear and panic among the area's displaced residents in the mountains and caves, watching their homes demolished before their eyes.
Here lies the destruction, the ruin, and the systematic targeting of citizens' homes and properties, turning the area into ruins and ghostly shadows devoid of inhabitants, except for their memories, pain, and losses. The scene expresses the aggressor's desire for simultaneous killing and destruction.
The empty Fout area, in the fourth month of aggression, didn't escape the airstrikes but was showered with the aggressor's wrath, sending a message: complete evacuation of Saada, abandoning all possessions, making Saada a scorched land with displacement and asylum as the only options. The area's residents, standing on the rubble of their homes, proudly affirm that the aggressor's crimes won't deter them from standing firm and defending their land and honor.
The systematic destruction of homes and schools in Saada is one of the aggression's crimes against civilian objects, a war crime with thousands of similar crimes over nine continuous years, and a legitimate right of the Yemeni people that won't fade with time.
June 28, 2019: 7 Martyrs and One Wounded in an Airstrike on a Citizen's Home in Taiz
On this day, June 28, 2019, the Saudi-American aggression targeted the home of citizen Abdul Qawi Al-Kindi in the Warzan area, Khadir district, Taiz province, with two airstrikes. The airstrikes resulted in 7 martyrs and one wounded, near-total destruction of Al-Kindi's home, damage to several neighboring homes and properties, spreading fear and panic among the residents, and a wave of displacement into the unknown.
Here, blood, remains, cries, and wails amid the destruction, rubble, shrapnel, fires, and smoke columns. Everyone flees to save themselves and their families under the continuous hovering of the ruthless aggression's planes, delaying rescue teams and increasing the crime's magnitude and victims' suffering.
Elderly people, having just arrived at the strike site, saw no signs of life from those inside the home. One screams and slaps his cheeks, another joins him, embracing before collapsing, in a moving human scene expressing the horror of the crime and the great calamity, deepening sorrow in the chests of elderly people who lost their loved ones, with whom they shared life's joys and sorrows for years. The moments were harsh, with the aggression taking away their loved ones without warning and with no common grounds to anticipate the crime and its catastrophe.
Elderly people fell to the ground, their cries filling the place, chanting against the aggression and its crimes and all who supported and endorsed it. In a shocking moment, more family members arrived, one finding his father in pieces, another seeing his son and wife, neighbors who enjoyed the generosity and hospitality of Abdul Qawi, whom the aggression targeted, striking at the hearts and minds of his many admirers.
The three-story home couldn't save its residents from the gruesome massacre and collective extermination under one roof, deepening the airstrikes and shrapnel to destroy everything covering the residents, protecting them from winter's cold and summer's heat, but not from the deadly aggression's airstrikes. A young child, whose skull was split into two by the strike, had his brain, the center of thought and awareness, emptied. A nearby mother, broken and torn with her infant, presents a harsh scene of seeing every family member one by one.
The airstrikes didn't target Abdul Qawi or his family personally but targeted a father of the entire country, affecting his neighbors and everyone who knew him, leaving a void of kindness and purity that words fail to describe.
The aggression's planes left the area after completing their crime, leaving behind deep sorrow, prayers, moans, and pains rising to the sky, with the final outcome in God's hands.
Targeting homes over residents' heads in Taiz is one of thousands of war crimes and acts of genocide against humanity in Yemen, perpetrated by the Saudi-American aggression against the Yemeni people over nine years, amid UN silence, legal failure, and the evident complicity of the Security Council and the international community.
June 28, 2019: 3 Women Wounded by Aggression Mercenaries' Shells on Citizens' Homes in Hodeidah
On this day, June 28, 2019, the US-Saudi aggression mercenaries targeted citizens' homes with artillery shells in Al-Zuhur neighborhood, Al-Hali district, Hodeidah province. The shelling wounded 3 women, caused terror and panic among citizens, and triggered waves of ongoing displacement and homelessness into the unknown, with extensive damage to homes and properties.
Women, including a young girl in one of Hodeidah's hospitals, receiving first aid, suffered multiple shrapnel wounds to their limbs. One describes the terror and panic during the crime, the house being struck by the shell and the explosion, in the middle of the night, as the household slept soundly. Another woman cries, saying, "I saw death, my children screamed, and we all ran towards the street, fearing the roof would collapse on us."
The mercenaries' deliberate shelling of citizens' homes with artillery and mortar shells is a war crime, intended to kill, wound, and displace citizens from their homes, one of thousands of recurring crimes against residents of districts near the frontlines in Hodeidah since the Stockholm Agreement and beyond, repeatedly violating the ceasefire agreement under the eyes and ears of the international community, the United Nations, and all relevant humanitarian and legal entities.
