In this context, spy Jamil Al-Faqih stated in his confessions, published by security agencies, "The Americans were highly focused on collecting information about the entire oil sector, both the governmental and commercial sectors. For instance, regarding the Ministry of Oil, it was about the ministry's plans, its activities, its affiliated entities, the ministry's mission, and the laws regulating its work."
Al-Faqih added, "They also gathered information about oil companies, the gas company, the Oil Exploration and Extraction Authority, all such information, the amount of oil consumed by the state, the amount of imported oil, the amount of domestically produced oil, the storage capacities of the oil company, and the amount of imported gas, including the import ports, how gas quantities are transported, and how the Oil Exploration Authority organizes relationships between oil companies and the number of oil companies operating in the country."
Spy Jamil Al-Faqih also said, "Officer Darren asked me to prepare a study on the oil companies operating in the country, whether they were production companies or oil service companies. The study included information about the company's interaction with administrative entities, its nature of work, which, of course, serves the American side by giving them a comprehensive overview of the entire oil sector and the companies within it."
Al-Faqih highlighted that "the American side was also focused on the issue of fuel price changes in both the north and the south," explaining that this information is one of the indicators added to the indicators of fuel availability, exchange rate fluctuations, and food prices, all serving American directives to impose more obstacles and difficulties on the economy.
Spy Hisham Al-Wazir said that the most important information the Americans focused on was "obtaining updates on production, production conditions in the oil fields, the financial returns from production, and the problems faced by these companies in the production areas, especially with tribes and local communities in the production areas, as well as these companies' relationships with the government."
He pointed out that "there were secret meetings conducted by Roland McKay himself with the directors of these companies, either in their homes, in Roland's home, or at parties organized specifically for foreigners," which reveals the extent of American pursuit to control the oil sector in Yemen.
Al-Wazir continued in his confessions, "My work manager, Roland McKay, mentioned to me that wells would be drilled, and if oil was found, for example, in a region in Shabwa province or parts of Hadramout province, they would be closed by companies like OXY and Total. They wanted to postpone the extraction to gain greater profits and benefit from corruption deals with the government, obtaining these wells at the lowest possible cost and the best commercial benefits."
Al-Wazir noted that the maps identifying these wells' locations were with the companies that conducted the exploration, primarily American company OXY, Total, and ExxonMobil.
Regarding the extent of American influence and control over this sector, Al-Wazir stated, "The ones who have these maps and keep them have not shared them even with the Ministry of Oil and Minerals or the Oil Exploration and Production Authority. The available official maps only show promising oil sectors."
The mineral sector was also within the American target scope and Washington's significant ambitions. Al-Wazir confirmed, "The Americans focused on the mineral sector in Yemen, obtaining information from the Geological Survey Authority about promising mining areas, focusing on promising sectors in Yemen that offered substantial benefits to Americans. They saw the oil, gas, mineral, and energy sectors as promising and potentially highly successful, benefiting American companies directly."
In conclusion, Al-Wazir pointed out that the Americans had "special information about Yemen's capabilities in oil, gas, and minerals through the American Geological Survey itself. This confidential information is not shared with Yemenis, but it is accessible to the American government and its affiliated companies."
