The Nation added that the Armed Forces have created significant impacts on the Israeli economy and on American military assets, including aircraft carriers, affirming that the means to mitigate this threat is to end the genocide in Gaza.
The magazine published a report on Friday confirming that "the US Navy had been engaged in the most intense naval combat since the end of World War II, which surely would come as a surprise to most Americans." It added that this time, the fighting isn’t taking place in the Atlantic or Pacific Oceans but in the Red Sea and the adversary is Yemenis who are supporting Palestinians in Gaza against the comprehensive Israeli war.
The report explained that Yemenis "have faced repeated air strikes from American planes and have responded by, among other things, attacking an American aircraft carrier and other ships off their coast. Their weapons of choice are rockets, drones, small boats rigged with explosives, and—a first!—anti-ship ballistic missiles."
The report clarified that "modest numbers of Yemenis have managed to launch a challenge to the prevailing world order, despite being poor, weak, and brown, attributes that usually make people invisible to the American establishment."
It explained that Yemen possesses capabilities that can’t be easily wiped out even by the sophisticated armaments of the US Navy.
The report quoted Brian Clark, a prominent researcher at the neoconservative Hudson Institute and a former Navy submariner, as expressing concerns that "the Houthis are on the verge of penetrating American naval defenses with their missiles, raising the possibility that they could inflict significant damage on a US destroyer or even an aircraft carrier."
The report affirmed that repeated American and British air strikes against suspected weapons sites in and around the Yemeni capital, Sana'a, have so far failed to halt the war on shipping. Even high-tech American Reaper drones are no longer assured of dominating Middle Eastern airspace since the Yemenis have shot down four of those $30 million weapons so far.
The report also added that Yemen has also fired large numbers of ballistic missiles at the Israeli Red Sea port of Eilat, idling it since November.
The report mentioned that the situation in the Red Sea could become one of the most dangerous situations in the world.
"Any major damage inflicted by the Houthis on an American warship at any time in the future could prompt Washington to engage in military actions that risk a broader conflict," it said.
It considered that easing this tension could be achieved through "taking stronger action to end the comprehensive war waged by Israel on Gaza, which is deemed an intolerable affront to international humanitarian law standards."
It concluded by saying that "while the ongoing Israeli assault should be stopped to prevent further death and imminent mass starvation in Gaza, it should also be ended to prevent another American war in the Middle East."
Yemen's operations are carried out in support of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, who are enduring a genocidal Israeli war.
The Armed Forces have vowed to sustain their operations as long as the Israeli regime keeps up the brutal military onslaught that has so far claimed the lives of nearly 38,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children.
They have also pledged to continue their strikes so long as the regime retains a 2006-present siege that it has been enforcing against Gaza, and has markedly tightened during the war.
