Yemeni Drone Strike on Tel Aviv Exposes Israeli Air Defense Vulnerabilities and Raises Global Concerns

News - Middle East: The American media has shed light on the Yemeni drone "Yafa," which the Yemeni Armed Forces used to target the occupied city of Jaffa, known to the Jews as Tel Aviv.

The New York Times questioned whether the Yemeni drone "Yafa" represents a new model of stealth aircraft, citing various military experts who believe the Yemeni operation revealed an "Israeli weakness" in detecting similar threats.

The newspaper featured opinions from weapons experts who stated that the drone that struck "Tel Aviv" appears to be a different version of the Sammad-3 drone. They suggested it was "painted in a darker color to evade air defenses" and possibly equipped with a larger fuel tank and engine to extend its range.

Reflecting the global impact of the Yemeni Armed Forces' strike on the enemy entity, the experts mentioned in the American newspaper's report speculated that the Yemenis might have equipped the Sammad-3 drone with materials that allow them to evade Israeli air defenses.

One weapons expert told the newspaper that the drone used in Friday's attack "looks like a modified version of the Samad-3, painted in a darker color than the original version" and might be made of specific carbon materials. He added that if the drone was not detected, it would be an interesting development not only for the Yemenis but for the entire resistance axis, including Hezbollah and others who could use it in the future.

The Yemeni operation exposes the halo of Israeli air defenses.

The New York Times also quoted Israeli military experts who commented on the Yemeni operation, saying that the drone attack, which shattered the early morning calm in "Tel Aviv," reveals a weakness in a type of weapon.

These experts emphasized that this weakness "could play a significant role in a war that Israelis fear with Hezbollah in Lebanon."

The Israeli experts noted that the lone drone infiltration without being shot down or triggering any warning alarms constitutes "a rare breach of the multi-layered Israeli air defenses," highlighting the failure to counter the drones, which they said "pose a different kind of threat."

They pointed out that drones "may be more difficult to detect and intercept," noting that drones move slower at lower altitudes, leaving a smaller radar or thermal footprint. They also emphasized the significant threat posed by drones compared to guided missiles, which have limited maneuverability, whereas drones have high maneuverability.

Fear of a major war breaking out

The American newspaper report included remarks from retired Israeli Brigadier General Assaf Orion, a researcher at the "Institute for National Security Studies" in Israel and the American "Washington Institute," who stressed that Hezbollah in Lebanon "is capable of launching drones with short and low-altitude flight paths, making them difficult to detect."

Military experts also mentioned that Hezbollah could launch drones at targets close to the Lebanese border "quickly enough that Israeli forces would not have enough time to detect and intercept them."

Additionally, the New York Times cited retired Israeli Major General Shlomo Brom, who previously served as the director of the strategic planning division in the Israeli General Staff and is currently a senior researcher at the "Institute for National Security Studies" in Israel. He suggested that in the event of a large-scale war, "Hezbollah will launch enough to cause significant damage despite Israel's defenses."

Yesterday morning, the Yemeni Armed Forces' air force successfully carried out a high-level military operation, bombing a significant target in the occupied area of Jaffa, known to Israelis as Tel Aviv, in support of the oppressed Palestinian people and their fighters, and in response to the Israeli aggression against our brothers in Gaza.

In a televised statement, the Armed Forces explained that the operation was carried out with a new drone named "Yafa," capable of bypassing enemy interception systems and undetectable by radar. The operation successfully achieved its objectives.

The Yemeni Armed Forces declared the occupied Jaffa area an unsafe zone and stated that it would be a primary target for their weapons. They emphasized their focus on targeting the Israeli enemy's internal front and reaching deep into its territory.

The Yemeni Armed Forces confirmed that they have a bank of targets in occupied Palestine, including sensitive military and security targets, and will continue to strike these targets in response to the enemy's massacres and daily crimes against our brothers in the Gaza Strip.

They reiterated that their operations will continue in support of the heroic fighters in Gaza, who defend our Arab and Islamic nation with all its peoples and countries. Their operations will not cease until the aggression stops and the siege on the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip is lifted.
