These airstrikes resulted in two deaths and 11 injuries, complete destruction of service facilities, over 30 water wells, and significant damage to factories. The Al-Aoudi factory alone suffered losses of half a billion riyals, displacing more than 420 employees and affecting thousands of families financially and health-wise, forcing many to flee.
2015: Six Casualties in Hajjah
On July 27, 2015, airstrikes targeted a health unit in the Mustaba district of Hajjah, resulting in one death and five injuries, completely destroying the facility and depriving thousands of healthcare. This attack increased fear and displacement among residents.
2017, and 2018: Destruction in Sa'adah
On July 27, 2017 and 2018, airstrikes targeted the main road and homes in the Razih district of Sa'adah, destroying vehicles and infrastructure, disrupting transportation, and intensifying the blockade. In 2018, dozens of homes, farms, and essential life facilities were destroyed, forcing residents to seek refuge in mountains and caves, living in harsh conditions.
Despite the widespread destruction, residents remain resilient, withstanding intimidation and continuing to fight back. The ongoing airstrikes are seen as an attempt to impose genocide and scorched earth tactics against the Yemeni people over nine years, largely unchallenged by the international community.
2018: Water Station, Al-Aoudi and Cotton Factories, and Food Warehouses Targeted in Hodeidah
On July 27, 2018, US-Saudi airstrikes targeted the city's drinking water station, the cotton factory, and Red Cross warehouses in the Zabeed district, as well as the Al-Aoudi plastic factory in the Kilo-16 area of the Al-Hali district.
In Hodeidah, the airstrikes destroyed over 30 drinking water wells, affecting more than half a million people. The strikes aimed to deprive residents of clean water, exacerbating their suffering and forcing them to flee their homes, facilitating control by the invading forces.
In Zabeed, the airstrikes completely destroyed the cotton factory, its equipment, and warehouses, affecting over 120 employees and their families. This increased the hardship of more than a thousand people amid the absence of humanitarian aid.
In the Kilo-16 area, airstrikes on the Al-Aoudi plastic factory resulted in complete destruction, with losses estimated at 500 million riyals, affecting 300 workers and their families. The attacks on civilian targets and vital installations are considered war crimes against the Yemeni people, without any international intervention to stop them over the past nine years.
2019: Seven Casualties from Shelling by Mercenaries in Hodeidah
In related events in Hodeidah, US-Saudi mercenaries shelled Musa Street and surrounding neighborhoods in the Al-Mina district with artillery, resulting in one death and six injuries, causing significant damage to homes and properties, and triggering panic and displacement among residents.
Despite the ceasefire agreement, mercenaries continued their violations, targeting residential areas and causing widespread fear. Families are forced to choose between fleeing and staying in their homes to comfort terrified children and women. The continued targeting of residential areas since 2018 highlights the lack of accountability from the international community and humanitarian organizations.
