Unveiling US Embassy's Grip on Pre-Revolution Yemen: Damning Testimonies of Espionage and Political Manipulation

Yemen: The confessions of the American-Israeli espionage network once again reveal the extent of American intelligence's deep infiltration into various sectors of Yemeni society, particularly in the political sphere. These revelations expose just a fraction of the hidden American dominance over Yemen's political power, where both the ruling authorities and the opposition were manipulated to serve American interests, even at the expense of Yemen's strategic priorities.

Nasser al-Din Amer, head of the Yemeni News Agency SABA, highlighted that the espionage network's confessions concerning the political sector included several key areas, with the most alarming being the penetration of the Yemeni Parliament by US intelligence.

Amer pointed out that the infiltration of the Yemeni Parliament meant that the US had reached the pinnacle of power, allowing it to interfere in the drafting of laws and constitutions to favor American interests. He emphasized that the espionage network’s admissions about US efforts to co-opt political parties reveal the American agenda to control Yemen’s political landscape, altering its course to align with US interests. He also noted that the complicity of major political parties such as the General People's Congress, the Islah Party, and the Nasserist Unionist Organization contributed to the fulfillment of American goals in Yemen over the years.

Amer emphasized that these confessions confirm the depth of American infiltration into the state and its involvement in every significant event, including presidential elections, the peaceful youth revolution, the Gulf initiative, the National Dialogue Conference, and even the recent military preparations for the aggression against Yemen.

He also mentioned that the United States pursued its agenda in Yemen smoothly, without objection, under the well-known "divide and conquer" strategy, by supporting both the opposition and the ruling parties to deepen internal conflicts. This long-standing American intervention in Yemen’s political affairs underscores the deep-rooted animosity of the US towards Yemen and its relentless efforts to undermine the country’s security and independence.

Amer further asserted that, despite the US intelligence's success in infiltrating Yemeni parliamentarians and political figures, groups like Ansarullah and other free political personalities stood as an impenetrable barrier against all American subversive plots in Yemen, culminating in the humiliating expulsion of US forces from Sana'a during the September 21 Revolution.

He noted that the US has exhausted all military, political, and economic options to subjugate Yemen, resorting to misleading propaganda against Ansarullah to exert public pressure and undermine their support base. This propaganda campaign has been documented in American media outlets, which have cited research centers and think tanks advocating for the use of deceptive media as the most effective way to defeat Ansarullah. This misleading campaign, directed by US intelligence through its agents, has been ongoing throughout the aggression against Yemen, as confirmed by the espionage cell's confession, which acknowledged the role of US intelligence in directing societal, political, and media figures to slander Ansarullah in public forums, gatherings, and on social media platforms.

He stressed that this propaganda is still present today, necessitating caution, vigilance, and a well-thought-out counter-strategy.

Parties and Power in America's Grip

Abdulrahman al-Ahnoumi, head of the Public Radio and Television Corporation stated that the Americans were leading political parties through their leaders and directing their decisions, activities, and orientations.

He added that both the government and the opposition were following the orders of the US Embassy and that Yemen, in the past, did not have an independent national political decision-making process but was instead subject to American control through the government, parties, and organizations. He pointed out that the previous regime’s loyalty to the US reached the extent of making the American Embassy the overseer of the political process in Yemen, arbitrating political disputes and conflicts among the various parties.

During the rounds of negotiations held by the Yemeni national delegation throughout the years of the Saudi aggression, the US launched intense and organized media campaigns against the Sana'a government, aiming to pressure it into making concessions. These campaigns, according to media activist Abdulhamid Shurwan, were orchestrated by a network of spies.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Shurwan said that many wondered why, during every round of political negotiations between the national delegation, Saudi Arabia, and its mercenaries backed by the United States, there would suddenly be unprecedented and intense media smear campaigns against Sana'a, spreading horrific rumors without warning.

He continued: "At the time, we said that these campaigns aimed to pressure Sana'a into making concessions during the ongoing negotiations, but many dismissed and underestimated this notion. Today, one of the spies confirms that all these campaigns were systematically managed by the American Embassy to pressure Ansarullah from within to make unfavorable concessions at the negotiation table."

On a broader scale, many Yemenis were shocked by the revelations from the American-Israeli espionage network, except for a few individuals with keen awareness of the critical phase Yemen is going through.

In this regard, journalist and political analyst Ali Jahaz said that the "confessions of the spy cell did not surprise me, except for most of the details, as we were living amidst the events, interacting with them while maintaining high awareness of the dangerous plots and conspiracies. However, these confessions came as a witness to the correctness of our early perspective."

He added: "We had a firm belief that most of the political and military elites, key figures of the regime, and the human rights activists were being driven by the American Embassy. There were clear destructive agendas that America was working on, which were being managed by its embassy through these actors. We could see this clearly due to our direct interactions with them."
