"After communication with several international parties, especially European ones, permission has been granted to withdraw the burned oil tanker SOUNION," Abdulsalam stated in a post on the Telegram.
Abdulsalam confirmed that the burning of the oil tanker is an example of Yemen's seriousness in targeting any ship that violates the Yemeni blockade, which prohibits any vessel from entering the ports of occupied Palestine. This action is intended to exert pressure on the Zionist entity to halt its aggression against Gaza.
He emphasized that all shipping companies associated with the Zionist entity must understand that their vessels will remain susceptible to Yemeni strikes wherever the Armed Forces can reach them until the aggression ceases and the blockade on Gaza is lifted.
Earlier on Wednesday, the European mission in the Red Sea released new images of the SOUNION tanker, which was targeted by Yemeni Armed Forces in the Red Sea on August 22, 2024. The photos show the ongoing fire on the ship following the attack due to the owner's violation of the ban on dealings with the Israeli enemy.
On Thursday, the Yemeni Armed Forces announced the targeting of the oil tanker Sounion, associated with the Israeli enemy, striking it precisely while it was sailing in the Red Sea, putting it at risk of sinking.
Brigadier General Yahya Sare'e, spokesperson for the Yemeni Armed Forces, confirmed that the attack involved warboats, ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones. He further stated that the Yemeni Armed Forces will continue to impose a blockade on the Israeli enemy and target all ships connected to or working with it.
Later, the Yemeni Armed Forces released footage showing the Sounion ship ablaze, with massive flames engulfing the vessel. This action was a response to the ship's owner's violation of the ban on accessing the ports of occupied Palestine.
