WHO Chief: Indescribable Horror and Loss of Life in Gaza
News - Middle East: The situation in Gaza is terrifying and tragic amid the ongoing military onslaught by Israeli forces, which has lasted for nearly 11 months, the Director-General of the World Health Organization Tedros Ghebreyesus said.
“No words can reflect the true horror and loss of life in Gaza,” Ghebreyesus wrote on X. “Hospitals, schools, and shelters have been repeatedly bombarded, resulting in deaths of civilians and humanitarians.”
Since the start of the Israeli assault on October 7, 2023, a total of 41,020 people in Gaza, mostly children and women, have been killed, with 94,925 others injured. Rescue teams continue to face immense challenges in reaching thousands of victims still trapped under rubble or stranded in the streets.
