News - Yemen: Yemeni Armed Forces have successfully imposed a naval blockade in the Red Sea and carried out significant strikes against Israel's maritime interests, the Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies reported.

The center highlighted that Yemeni forces launched concentrated attacks on commercial and military ships belonging to Western countries, resulting in altered maritime navigation routes and inflicting substantial damage on Israel's economy.

It explained that the closure of the Bab al-Mandeb Strait by Sana'a's forces marked a strategic turning point, disrupting global trade and severely impacting Israel's Eilat port.

Additionally, the report emphasized that Yemeni forces managed to establish an effective deterrent against global shipping companies, dealing a blow to Israel's prestige.

The center noted that the Western response to these attacks was limited and largely ineffective, emboldening Sana'a's forces to continue their offensive.

It confirmed that Western countries failed to safeguard the maritime routes in the Red Sea, attributing this failure to their reluctance to escalate military actions in the region.

The center warned that if the situation persists, Israel will face increased threats, including vulnerability to ballistic missiles and drone attacks. This would also lead to the prolonged naval blockade of the Port of Eilat and further deterioration of Israel's economy.

The center also pointed out that Western nations may resort to pressuring Israel to end the conflict in Gaza in an attempt to mitigate the threat posed by Sana'a's forces in the Red Sea.

In conclusion, the center stated that Sana'a's forces have achieved significant success in asserting their influence on the international stage, presenting a major challenge to Israel and Western powers.

In November 2023, Yemeni Armed Forces began targeting Israeli ships, or vessels linked to Israel, in the Red Sea, the Arabian Sea, the Indian Ocean, and as far as the Mediterranean, using missiles and drones. This action is in solidarity with Gaza and in response to the ongoing siege and genocide since October 7, 2023, as well as the aggression led by the United States and the United Kingdom against Yemen.
