News - Yemen: Yemen's President Mahdi Al-Mashat expressed deep regret over the UN’s silence regarding the genocide committed by Israel against the people of the region, coinciding with the 79th anniversary of the United Nations' founding.

In a message addressed to UN Secretary-General António Guterres on the anniversary of the organization’s establishment, President Mashat stated: "The 79th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations comes, unfortunately, amidst the genocide perpetrated by Israel against the people of the region, with the number of victims from these Zionist massacres exceeding 50,000, along with tens of thousands of wounded, all while facing disgraceful UN silence that contradicts the organization's founding goals."

He added that the UN Security Council exacerbates crises by taking a one-sided stance, instead of taking necessary steps to stop the massacres against civilians. He further noted that UNRWA (the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees) has become incapable of fulfilling its mission for the same reason, leading to a loss of trust in the UN by the world’s people, which will have severe consequences for the region and the world.

"In Yemen, we strongly condemn the inaction of your organization and the international community regarding what is happening in the region," the President added. "At the same time, we demand a firm stance to stop the aggression against the people of Palestine and Lebanon, and to designate Israel as a terrorist entity."

Backed by the United States to the hilt, Israel keeps massacring Palestinians in Gaza. Since October 2023, it has killed close to 43,000 Palestinians. More than 100,000 are injured, in need of treatment which is absolutely tough to receive.
