Yemen's Parliament Praises Military Operations Against US Naval Forces

News - Yemen: In a session held Wednesday, led by Speaker Yahya Ali Al-Re’e, Yemen’s Parliament praised recent military actions by the Yemeni Armed Forces. This included notable missile and drone operations targeting the American aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln in the Arabian Sea, as well as two American destroyers in the Red Sea.

The Parliament reaffirmed Yemen’s right to defend its waters, islands, and territories from foreign aggression and renewed its support for Sayyed Abdulmalik al-Houthi and the political leadership in taking necessary steps to protect Yemen’s unity and sovereignty.

Holding the United States and Britain responsible for regional escalation, the Parliament condemned their efforts to militarize the Red and Arabian Seas, citing the dangers to regional stability and maritime navigation. It asserted that continuous aggression from the US, UK, and Zionist forces will not deter Yemen from supporting the Palestinian cause and defending Lebanon and other Arab and Islamic nations. The Parliament demanded an end to the aggression against Palestine and Lebanon and a lifting of the siege on Gaza.

The body also criticized the ongoing silence from Arab and international communities and condemned the passivity among Arab and Islamic nations in the face of attacks on Yemen’s resources, including recent airstrikes in Hodeidah governorate.

The Parliament warned of ongoing American maneuvers in occupied Yemeni regions, urging vigilance against these plots. It accused the US, Saudi, and Emirati forces of conspiring with local actors to divide Yemen, tighten control over oil resources, and continue exploiting Yemeni wealth, denying the people their rightful benefits.

The Yemeni Armed Forces recently conducted two major military operations over eight hours in the Red Sea and Arabian Sea, which, according to their official report, achieved their intended goals. Spokesperson Brigadier General Yahya Sare’e announced that the first operation targeted the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) aircraft carrier in the Arabian Sea using cruise missiles and drones, as US forces reportedly prepared for an offensive against Yemen. Yemeni forces successed in averting this potential assault on their territory.

The second operation targeted two US destroyers in the Red Sea with missile and drone attacks. The Yemeni Armed Forces criticized the US and Britain for militarizing the Red Sea and warned of the security risks for international navigation in the region. These actions were framed as a response to US and British support for Israel amid ongoing aggression on Gaza and Lebanon.

The Yemeni military stated that operations would persist if key demands—such as lifting the Gaza blockade, halting aggression on Gaza, and stopping attacks on Lebanon—remain unmet. This announcement underscores a commitment to continue operations should these conditions go unfulfilled.

Since October 2023, following intensified violence in Gaza, Yemeni forces have launched multiple operations in solidarity with Palestinians, targeting areas in occupied Palestinian territories and intercepting ships believed to be headed toward Israeli-controlled ports. The recent operations highlight Yemen’s broader support for Gaza while signaling the potential for further military actions across several regional theaters if their demands are not addressed.
