Mohammad Eslami made the remarks in televised remarks on Thursday night, amid reports of European attempts to push for a new anti-Iran resolution by the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency next week.
“We decisively announced and also told [Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael] Grossi that if they are going to pass an interventionist resolution against us, as I have seen its draft this time which is three pages, we will take immediate reciprocal action,” Eslami said.
Noting that Iran’s response to the resolution will be “decisive and quick”, he said. “As soon as they read the resolution and put it to the vote, we will decisively take our action before the [ink of] votes is dry.”
"Zionists were the leaders of the maximum pressure campaign and they have had their true nature and identity revealed more than ever before," he said referring to Washington's policy against Iran under the Donald Trump administration.
The Israeli regime, which is waging wars against the besieged Gaza Strip and Lebanon, has repeatedly threatened to attack Iranian nuclear facilities in the past few months.
"It is important for us to emphasize that any confrontation and unlawful actions will be met with a decisive response from Iran," Eslami highlighted.
Eslami stressed that Iran will never abandon its peaceful nuclear program which is “completely clear.”
“We will teach them not to use worn-out tools and methods more than that and not to try to force us to turn away from our program with pressure.”
Grossi arrived in Tehran on Wednesday as part of a visit aimed at “meeting and learning about the views of the new president and the new government”, Eslami said.
Eslami expressed hope the visit will help the two sides “take a step forward” towards a solution to outstanding issues, which he said are part of the maximum pressure campaign against Iran.
“We hope to remove this irrelevant pretext that they used to put pressure on Iran and intensify sanctions.”
In 2015, Iran proved the peaceful nature of its nuclear program to the world by signing the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) with six world powers.
However, the US’ unilateral withdrawal in 2018 and its subsequent re-imposition of sanctions against Tehran left the future of the deal in limbo.
In 2019, Iran started to roll back the limits it had accepted under the JCPOA after the other parties failed to live up to their commitments.
