Human Rights Ministry Welcomes ICC Arrest Warrants for Netanyahu and Gallant

News - Yemen: Yemen’s Ministry of Justice and Human Rights welcomed the issuance of arrest warrants by the International Criminal Court (ICC) against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and dismissed Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, on charges of committing war crimes in Gaza.

The ministry called in a statement on all member states of the court to respect and implement the court's decision, noting that this decision was long overdue. It added that the delay in its issuance contributed to the continuation of the Zionist entity's persistence in its crimes to exterminate the Palestinian people, commit further crimes against the Lebanese people, and blatantly defy international, humanitarian law as well as international institutions.

The ministry called on the ICC to actively address the complaints submitted against all leaders of the Zionist entity, both political and military, as well as all states and individuals proven to be involved in committing, supporting these massacres—foremost among them the US administration—against the Palestinian, Lebanese peoples.

The Ministry of Justice also called on the nations of the world to respond positively to the decision by severing diplomatic, economic relations with the occupying entity and taking all necessary measures to achieve this. Such actions, the ministry stated, would demonstrate support for the decisions of the ICC and uphold the values of justice and humanity.

The ICC's Pre-Trial Chamber I on Thursday issued warrants of arrest for Netanyahu and Gallant "for crimes against humanity and war crimes committed from at least 8 October 2023 until at least 20 May 2024".

Backed by the United States and its Western allies, Israel launched the war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, after the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas carried out Operation Al-Aqsa Flood against the Israeli regime in response to the occupying entity’s intensified violence against Palestinians.

The regime’s bloody onslaught on Gaza has so far killed 44,176 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injured 104,473 others. Thousands more are also missing and presumed dead under rubble.
