A report published by the Hong Kong-based Asia Times underscored that US and allied efforts have been ineffective in curbing Yemeni strikes against ships and infrastructure linked to the Zionist entity.
The report noted that Yemen is unlikely to cease its operations against the Zionist regime, despite US and Israeli airstrikes on Yemeni territory. According to the publication, opposition within Yemen to the Zionist genocide in Gaza extends beyond the government and Ansarullah.
US Vice Admiral George Wycuff, in a speech delivered in Washington, acknowledged the challenges in countering Yemen’s strategy. He remarked that the US has been unable to “identify a central point of gravity” for the Yemeni forces, thereby undermining any attempt to implement a “classic deterrence policy.” Wycuff further noted that without “controlling Yemen,” US efforts to “intervene in its internal affairs” remain futile.
The Asia Times affirmed that Yemeni military operations in the Red Sea have effectively crippled the Port of Eilat, inflicting substantial economic losses on the Israeli regime. Once a vital outlet located between Egypt and Jordan, and Israel’s only non-Mediterranean port, Eilat has seen a dramatic decline in shipping activity since October 2023.
In recent months, the Yemeni Armed Forces have achieved significant victories against the naval forces of the US, the UK, and Israel. These operations led to the effective shutdown of the Port of Eilat, also known as Um Rashrash, and forced the US aircraft carriers Eisenhower and Roosevelt to retreat from the Red Sea. The Yemeni forces also sank or damaged dozens of Israeli-linked ships.
These achievements have surprised many observers, as Yemen was not previously regarded as a significant naval power. The Yemeni Armed Forces have vowed to continue their operations as long as the Israeli regime maintains its war and siege against Palestinian territories.
