Nov. 26 Over 9 Years: 46 Casualties in US-Saudi Airstrikes on Yemen

Yemen: On November 26, in the years 2015, 2016, and 2018, the US-Saudi aggression deliberately committed war crimes and acts of genocide through brutal airstrikes and the use of cluster bombs.

These attacks targeted civilians in their homes, travelers on the roads, and farmers on their lands across Yemen's Sa'adah, Hajjah, and Hodeidah provinces. The assaults resulted in 26 deaths and 20 injuries, mostly women and children, while destroying homes, farms, and livestock, and inflicting widespread damage on civilian properties.

Here are the key incidents:

2015: 11 Casualties in Sa'adah

On November 26, 2015, the US-Saudi coalition launched a direct attack on a civilian vehicle in the Qutniyat area of Baqim District, Sa'adah Governorate. The airstrike claimed seven lives and injured four others, leaving behind a horrific scene.

The vehicle, once a mode of transport, was turned into a fiery wreck, with passengers reduced to ashes and scattered remains. Survivors were severely injured, their blood staining the roads. Locals rushed to the scene to aid the injured and collect the remains, mourning the tragic loss amidst a backdrop of destruction.

2016: A Cluster Bomb Injures a Child in Sa'adah

On this day in 2016, remnants of a cluster bomb injured 12-year-old Ali Mohammed in the Bani Saad area of Al-Zaher District, Sa'adah. Mistaking the bomb for a toy, the child triggered an explosion that left him gravely injured.

Ali, who had already lost his father in earlier airstrikes, was playing near his home when the tragedy occurred. His uncle, recounting the scene, described the unbearable pain of seeing his nephew in a hospital bed, fighting for his life.

2016: Airstrikes in Hodeidah Kill and Injure 20 Civilians

The coalition targeted homes and infrastructure in Al-Maraweah District, Hodeidah, leaving 12 people dead—most of them women and children—and injuring eight others. The strikes destroyed homes and displaced numerous families, cutting off communication in the area and spreading fear.

2016: A Farmer Killed and Livestock Slaughtered in Hajjah

An airstrike hit a farmer’s home and land in Al-Jar, Abs District, Hajjah Governorate, killing one person and wiping out dozens of livestock. The attack devastated the family’s livelihood, reducing their home and farm to rubble.

A witness recounted how the family fled moments before the strike, leaving behind their elderly relative, who refused to leave. He perished in the attack, alongside the livestock, marking yet another tragedy for Yemen's agricultural community.

2018: 13 Casualties in Hajjah

In Hajjah's Haradh District, airstrikes targeted the home of Hussein Al-Jamaei in the Al-Shaab area, killing six people and injuring seven, including women and children. The strikes destroyed the house and neighboring properties, forcing families to flee in fear.

A survivor described the catastrophic aftermath: smoke, destruction, and cries of the injured filled the air, while rescuers struggled to save those trapped under the rubble.

These repeated tragedies underscore the human cost of the ongoing conflict, leaving Yemenis to grapple with immense loss and destruction amid a deafening global silence.
