Yemen: The US-Saudi aggression has continued its campaign of direct airstrikes and artillery shelling on civilian homes and farms across Yemeni provinces, such as Sana'a, Hajjah, Marib, and Al-Baidha, over the years on December 25 (2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018). These attacks have resulted in the deaths and injuries of 18 civilians, most of them women and children.

The strikes have not only caused direct casualties but have also inflicted widespread destruction on homes, farms, and other civilian infrastructure, leading to displacement, terror among residents, and long-term suffering. Below are the main incidents:

2015: Cluster Bomb Strikes on Farms in Hajjah

On this day, the coalition dropped internationally prohibited cluster bombs on farms in the Mustaba district of Hajjah province. These bombs contaminated the area, leaving farmland and pastures dangerous and unusable. Civilians were unable to access their farms, and even livestock faced grave risks.

2016: Artillery Shelling in Marib

In 2016, coalition-backed forces shelled homes and civilian properties in Sirwah district, Marib province. This caused significant damage, forced families to flee their homes, and created waves of displacement. Residents lamented the destruction, stating that their once-safe homes had turned into death traps.

2017: Airstrike in Sana'a Kills 12 Civilians

In 2017, the coalition launched a direct airstrike on the home of Ali Mohammed Al-Rimi, near the Egyptian Memorial Monument in the Asr area of Sana’a. The attack killed 12 members of a single family, including six children and four women, and injured four others.

2018: Shelling Injures a Child and Woman in Al-Baidha

In 2018, coalition-backed forces targeted civilian homes in the Al-Qurashiyah district of Al-Baidha province, injuring a child and a woman. Eyewitnesses recounted how the area became unsafe, with children and families constantly at risk from stray bullets and direct fire.

These annual atrocities have disrupted lives, destroyed civilian infrastructure, and terrorized local communities. They highlight ongoing violations of international law and human rights. Yemenis continue to call for international accountability and an end to the suffering inflicted by nearly a decade of conflict.
