Dec. 29 Over 9 Years: 9 Casualties, Destruction of Homes, Infrastructure, and Properties in Aggression Raids on Yemen

Yemen: On December 29, during the years 2015 and 2017, the US-Saudi aggression continued committing war crimes and acts of genocide through its brutal direct airstrikes targeting innocent civilians in their homes, as well as civilian facilities and infrastructure in the provinces of Sa'adah and Marib.

These attacks resulted in four martyrs, five injuries, including women and children, and complete destruction of homes, a bridge, a water well driller, and other properties. The strikes terrified peaceful residents, displaced families, deepened grief in households that lost their breadwinners and shelters, and exacerbated living conditions, leading to increased waves of displacement and disrupting essential life activities like transporting agricultural products and necessities.

Details of the Incidents:

2015: Najwan Bridge and Main Road in Baqim, Sa'adah

On this day in 2015, US-Saudi aggression added another war crime to its record by targeting the Najwan Bridge and the main road in Baqim District, Sa'adah Province. This attack disrupted transportation and the delivery of essential supplies like food, medicine, and other basic necessities. It also hindered patient evacuation and the marketing of agricultural products.

The Najwan Bridge, a vital lifeline connecting various areas, was turned into rubble by the airstrikes. Citizens’ vehicles were stranded, unable to pass in either direction.

2017: Families Displaced by Raids on Homes in Sirwah, Marib

On the same date in 2017, the aggression targeted residential areas in Sirwah District, Marib Province. The brutal airstrikes displaced dozens of families, depriving them of shelter and worsening their living conditions. This led to a surge in displacement amidst a severe shortage of humanitarian aid in Yemen.

Scenes of destruction, scattered debris, and remnants of US-made missiles left deep scars on the minds of terrified children and women who were forced to flee their homes in fear.

2017: 9 Martyrs and Injuries from Scattered War Crimes in Sa'adah

On this same day, three separate war crimes were committed in the Saada governorate. Civilian homes and properties were deliberately targeted in the districts of Ghamr, Al-Safra, and Razih.

Ghamr District: 4 Martyrs, 3 Injuries, and Destroyed Homes

In Ghamr District, airstrikes hit two homes in Tashdan, resulting in four martyrs and three injuries, including women and children. Entire homes were leveled, neighboring properties damaged, and residents were forced to flee once again.

Razih District: A Family's Narrow Escape

In Razih, the family of Ahmed Jaber narrowly escaped death after their home was destroyed by airstrikes shortly after they evacuated. The family remains displaced to this day, living in tents provided by humanitarian organizations.

The continued airstrikes against civilian infrastructure, homes, and essential facilities highlight the aggression’s criminal intentions to devastate the Yemeni population and destroy their livelihood, in defiance of international laws and human rights.
