On Monday, Fagin met with Abdulrahman Al-Mahrami, a member of the so-called Presidential Council aligned with the mercenaries. This followed a meeting a day earlier with mercenary leader Tariq Saleh, in actions laden with implications—particularly as they coincide with the one-year mark of the US-British aggression against Yemen and Washington’s failure to secure a victory or protect Israeli navigation in the Red Sea.
These engagements come as Fagin’s tenure in Yemen nears its end, coinciding with the conclusion of Biden’s presidency and Trump’s preparations to assume leadership in Washington. These developments also follow the failure of extremists in Al-Baidha Governorate to ignite conflict from the Qifa area, which the US had planned to use as a launching point to inflame other fronts.
This is not the first time the US ambassador has met with mercenary Al-Mahrami. Over the past months, he has held several meetings with mercenary leaders, including Al-Alimi. These efforts are part of a continuous US strategy to disrupt Yemen’s internal stability, hinder Yemeni operations supporting Gaza, and attempt to penetrate Yemeni defenses in a last-ditch effort to secure an American victory in Yemen before Biden departed from the White House.
During the meeting, predictable rhetoric from Saleh included condemnations of what he called "obstruction of international navigation in the Red Sea." However, it is widely recognized that these operations are honorable, heroic actions in support of Gaza, whose people have endured a genocidal war at the hands of the Zionist enemy for over a year.
Faced with its growing predicament in Yemen, Washington is playing its final cards to pressure Yemen into abandoning its support for Gaza. This includes urging mercenaries to reopen battlefronts once again.
Meanwhile, Sana’a remains at the highest level of readiness and preparedness. Yemeni tribes are in a constant state of mobilization, military training sessions are ongoing, and the Fifth Military Region is closely monitoring all movements. Any new offensive by the mercenaries will bring disaster upon them and serve no benefit to the Americans, given Yemen’s unwavering determination to confront aggression and continue supporting Gaza, regardless of the risks and challenges.
Since October 7, when Israel launched its devastating war on Gaza following the Palestinian resistance's surprise Operation Al-Aqsa Storm, Yemenis have openly declared their unwavering support for Palestine's struggle against Zionist occupation.
The Yemeni Armed Forces have vowed to continue their retaliatory strikes. These maritime operations have already forced major shipping and oil companies to suspend their voyages to Israeli-controlled ports.
