In a statement, the Supreme Political Council emphasized that over the past 15 months, Palestinian fighters have demonstrated to the world that it is possible to defeat the enemy's army, despite the extensive American and Western support for the Zionist entity. The council recognized the tremendous sacrifices made by the Palestinian people and their resistance leaders, which were instrumental in achieving this historic success.
The statement also noted that the defeat of the Zionist enemy thwarted all declared objectives of the Israeli entity under the leadership of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, whom they criticized for leading the entity into failure on all levels. The council highlighted the thousands of genocidal massacres committed during the conflict as evidence of the Israeli regime's crimes.
The Supreme Political Council extended condolences to the families of martyrs in Palestine, Lebanon, Iraq, Yemen, and Iran, who gave their lives in the fight for Al-Quds. Additionally, they congratulated the families of freed prisoners, whose imminent release was secured through the sacrifices and resilience of Palestinian fighters.
Reaffirming Yemen’s steadfast support for Palestine, the council emphasized its continued commitment to standing by the Palestinian people and their resistance until Palestine is fully liberated.
The statement also praised the efforts of Yemen’s Armed Forces and its people for their unwavering solidarity with Palestine. It further commended the resistance fronts in Lebanon and Iraq, as well as the pivotal role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in supporting the Palestinian cause.
Yemen’s position, according to the council, is rooted in religious, humanitarian, principled, and moral values that aim to help the Palestinian people achieve liberation. The Supreme Political Council affirmed Yemen would closely monitor the Zionist entity’s adherence to the terms of the agreement, which came into effect Sunday morning.
The council assured that Yemen’s Armed Forces remain on high alert, fully prepared for any developments arising from the situation.
Israel unleashed its brutal Gaza onslaught on October 7, 2023, after Hamas carried out a historic operation against the occupying entity in retaliation for its intensified atrocities against the Palestinian people.
However, the Tel Aviv regime failed to achieve its declared objectives of freeing captives and eliminating Hamas despite killing nearly 47,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, in Gaza.
Earlier this week, Israel was forced to agree to a ceasefire, accepting Hamas' longstanding negotiation terms.
The ceasefire deal consists of three phases, each lasting 42 days. Negotiations for the second and third phases will begin 16 days after the implementation of the first phase.
The first phase will see the release of some 1,900 Palestinian abductees in exchange for 33 Israeli captives held in Gaza. It also requires Israeli occupation forces to begin withdrawing from the Philadelphi corridor - also known as the Salah al-Din axis - on the Gaza-Egypt border.
