These acts resulted in 12 martyrs and 8 injured, most of whom were women and children. The attacks also destroyed several homes, a health center, a welding workshop, and caused extensive damage to properties, shops, a fuel station, roads, streets, and residential neighborhoods. The aggression forced dozens of families to flee their homes, terrorized children and women, and worsened the suffering of victims’ families. It compounded living conditions and left behind widespread destruction and harrowing scenes that violate humanitarian and international laws.
Here are the key details:
2016: A Martyr, Injured, and Property Damage in Airstrikes on Sana'a
On January 22, 2016, the US-Saudi aggression committed a new war crime against humanity in Yemen with direct, brutal airstrikes targeting citizens’ homes in Beit Bous, Sana'a. This attack left one martyr, one injured, and caused significant damage to homes and properties. Dozens of families were displaced, furthering their suffering, and spreading fear among women and children. The financial losses affected businesses, vehicles, and the main streets.
The deliberate targeting of civilians and civilian objects, and the terrorizing of the peaceful, is a war crime in every sense. It represents intentional genocide against humanity, without distinguishing between civilian and military targets, the young or the old. Everything in Yemen remains on the aggression’s hit list.
2018: 18 Casualties in Four Separate War Crimes in Sa'adah
On the same day in 2018, the US-Saudi aggression added four new war crimes to its record against the Yemeni people. Civilians and civilian infrastructure in the districts of Sahar, Ghamr, and Sa'adah city were subjected to direct, brutal airstrikes, artillery, and missile attacks. These crimes resulted in 11 martyrs, 7 injured, and the destruction of homes, a health center, a welding workshop, a fuel station, and numerous shops, leaving behind heartbreaking scenes that shock humanity.
Al-Masa’abeh, Sahar district: The aggression targeted a citizen’s home and a health center with brutal airstrikes, leading to the martyrdom of seven citizens, including five children and a woman, and severely injuring five others. The attacks destroyed the center, depriving hundreds of healthcare, displaced dozens of families, and caused widespread property damage.
Scenes of dismembered bodies, blood, destruction, smoke, and dust filled the air. The cries and sobs of the injured under the rubble echoed as residents rushed to retrieve bodies, rescue the injured, and clear the debris. Among the victims were a baby girl, her older brother, and their mother, whose lives were tragically cut short, leaving behind their torn bodies and silenced childhoods.
Al-Azouqol, Sahar: The aggression targeted the home of Taha Mujallal Salem, killing him, his pregnant wife, and their unborn child. The airstrike leveled the house, leaving it in ruins and scattering personal belongings among the rubble.
Ghamr District: Heavy artillery shelling killed one woman, injured two others, and displaced dozens of families.
Sa'adah City: Airstrikes targeted a welding workshop, nearby shops, a fuel station, and the main road, causing extensive destruction, financial losses, and fear among residents.
The aggression’s deliberate airstrikes on civilians and civilian objects on this day—across homes, shops, and health facilities—constitute war crimes and acts of genocide. These crimes are part of the aggression’s continuous violations over nine years, blatantly defying international humanitarian law and highlighting the complicity of the international community in avoiding accountability.
