Jan. 23 Over 9 Years: 57 Casualties in War Crimes and Genocidal Attacks by US-Saudi Aggression on Yemen

Yemen: On January 23 of the years 2016, 2017, and 2018, the US-Saudi aggression deliberately committed war crimes and acts of genocide through brutal airstrikes targeting civilians in their homes, markets, mosques, vehicles, and public roads. This time, the focus of the attacks was on various areas in Sa'adah Governorate.

The airstrikes resulted in 32 martyrs, including women and children, and 25 injured, leaving dozens of families homeless, depriving them of breadwinners and sources of income, and exacerbating their living conditions. Additionally, the strikes destroyed two mosques, two markets, shops, dozens of vehicles, a water project, and caused extensive damage to properties, roads, streets, and residential neighborhoods. The bombings spread terror among children and women, restricted movement, and left shocking scenes that violated international laws and conventions and shook the global conscience.

Detailed Accounts:

2016: 15 Injured, Mosque, Market, and Water Project Destroyed in Sa'adah

On January 23, 2016, the US-Saudi aggression added two war crimes to its record against the Yemeni people in Sa'adah Governorate. The first was a direct airstrike targeting a mosque, a public market, and a water project in the Nashour area of Al-Safra District, which left 15 injured. The second was a barbaric air raid on homes and properties in the city of Dhahyan, causing complete destruction and forcing dozens of families to flee, losing their homes, safety, and right to stability.

2017: 21 Martyrs and Injured in Two War Crimes in Sa'adah

On the same date in 2017, the US-Saudi aggression carried out scattered war crimes in Sa'adah Governorate. These crimes included airstrikes targeting two civilian vehicles on the main road in Haydan District and the Al-Aqiq market in Kitaf District, resulting in 15 martyrs and six injured, including women and children.

2018: 18 Martyrs and 3 Injured in Airstrikes Targeting Two Vehicles in Sa'adah

On January 23, 2018, the aggression committed another war crime and act of genocide in Sa'adah, targeting two civilian vehicles carrying passengers in Al-Sheikh area, Munabbih District. The attack claimed 18 lives and injured three others, spreading terror among residents and travelers.

The crimes committed on January 23 across nine years are more than documented numbers; they are a glaring stain on humanity, international organizations, and global conventions. These crimes require urgent and serious action to halt the aggression, lift the siege, and hold the perpetrators accountable.
