These attacks resulted in injuries to civilians, deprived dozens of areas of communication services, isolated them from their surroundings, exacerbated their suffering, terrorized women and children, restricted movement between Hajjah and Hodeidah, delayed the delivery of food and medical supplies, and hindered emergency medical assistance. Additionally, the aggression sought to suppress Yemeni media, causing extensive damage to communication towers and networks, the Military Engineering College, local council equipment, and radio and television facilities, all while violating freedom of expression.
Highlights of the Incidents:
2016: Airstrikes Target Civilians and Service Facilities in Sana’a
On this day, the aggression launched three major attacks:
Al-Sabeen District: The home of Mohammed Ali Al-Raqa in Hadin was directly targeted, destroying the house and neighboring properties, terrifying residents, and rendering families homeless.
Azal District: Airstrikes destroyed the maintenance depot of local council equipment, including road repair and sewage system machinery.
Bani Al-Harith District: A series of airstrikes demolished sections of the Military Engineering College in the Sarf area, which was under construction.
2017: Destruction of Al-Aman Bridge in Hajjah
In Hajjah, aggression targeted the Al-Aman Bridge, cutting off the main road connecting Hajjah to Hodeidah. This attack halted the transport of food and agricultural products, obstructed commercial and passenger traffic, and intensified the suffering of patients and travelers.
2018: Civilian Injuries in Sa'adah Border District
Artillery shelling in Shada District, Sa'adah, injured two civilians and caused widespread destruction. The residents, already living under constant bombardment, faced daily risks to their lives.
2022: Targeting Telecommunications Infrastructure
In simultaneous attacks across Dhamar, Raymah, and Sana’a, airstrikes destroyed telecommunication towers and facilities, cutting off services to thousands of families and isolating entire regions.
Dhamar: Airstrikes hit three sites, including near Dhamar University and the Atma and Wusab areas, disrupting communication and harming emergency services.
Sana’a: Airstrikes targeted the telecommunications network in Sinhan, leaving the area disconnected from its surroundings.
2022: Attacks on Media Facilities in Sana’a
The aggression bombed the Ministry of Information, as well as the radio and television facilities in Sana’a’s Al-Thawra District, causing severe damage to infrastructure and terrifying nearby residents. Yemeni leadership and civil organizations condemned these attacks as violations of free expression and as part of a strategy to silence Yemeni voices.
These repeated acts of aggression—targeting civilian infrastructure, media facilities, and essential services—constitute war crimes under international law. Immediate action is required from the global community to stop these violations, lift the blockade, ensure reconstruction, and hold those responsible accountable.
