Number of Pro-Palestine Protestors Detained in American Universities Risen to 500

News - World: Student activism continues in American universities, Friday, in rejection of the Zionist aggression on Gaza.

Despite the police resorting to violence, assaulting and arresting hundreds of students, academics, and journalists participating in coverage, the number of sit-ins has increased to include 40 American universities.

Unprecedented activism has reached George Washington University in the American capital, with American media reporting an increase in the number of protesters at George Washington University after more students from other institutes and universities joined.

Over the past hours, other American universities have begun to join the pro-Palestinian movement and reject the aggression on Gaza. Students gathered at Northwestern University in Chicago and the University of Pennsylvania, signaling the start of an open sit-in.

The University of Pennsylvania joined the student activism demanding an end to Zionist crimes in Gaza and American support, and the withdrawal of university investments from the Israeli entity.

Meanwhile, the American Civil Liberties Union in Georgia state said: "We are witnessing unconstitutional suppression campaigns, with lawmakers in the state condemning excessive violence against students in solidarity with Gaza."

American media reported an increase in the number of students detained in American universities to 500 people due to their participation in protests condemning the Zionist war on Gaza.

At Indiana University in the United States, security forces arrested 33 students on campus after protesters refused to remove the camping structures set up by students in support of Palestine.

American police also arrested a number of students after assaulting them for their sit-in at Ohio University in support of Palestine.

American media reported that US authorities have arrested about 100 protesters at the University of Southern California and dozens at the University of Texas at Austin.

In a statement, Columbia University said: "Progress has been made in talks with students protesting on the Manhattan campus."

Meanwhile, the University of California has decided to allow students to remain in the protest area until further notice as tensions ease on campus.

In the context, students at the University of Melbourne in Australia staged a sit-in on campus in support of Gaza and in condemnation of the Zionist war.

The ongoing Israeli siege has inflicted heavy casualties on Palestinians in Gaza, who have been enduring the war since October 7.

Gaza's Health Ministry said over 34,000 people, mostly women and children, had been killed in the war that the regime started following an operation staged by the Palestinian territory's resistance movements.
