Yemeni Air Defense Shot Down Fighting Drone, Al-Jawf
News - Yemen: Yemeni Air Defenses shot down a Karayel, spy drone operated by Saudi Air Force in the airspace of Al-Jawf Governorate. The Yemeni Armed Forces spokesman, Brigadier General Yahya Sare'e, said that Air Defenses targeted spy drone, Karayel, with undisclosed missile while it was carrying out hostile actions in Al-Jawf governorate.
This drone is the third of its kind to be shot down, as the Air Defenses managed to shoot down a KARAYEL spy drone operated by the Saudi regime in the airspace of the Al-Muhashmah area in the same governorate at the beginning of this year, and another in the Al-Salif area of Hodeidah governorate at the end of 2019.
KARAYEL Tactical UAV System is the first and only Tactical Unmanned Aerial Vehicle designed and produced according to NATO’s STANAG-4671 for reconnaissance and surveillance purposes.
KARAYEL system has novel triple redundant distrubted avionics architecture which ensures protection against all kinds of uncontrolled crash. With this feature, VESTEL Defence has carried systematic fault safety used only in manned aviation in the world until now to an unmanned aerial vehicle for the first time with KARAYEL.
