Ministry of Transportation Reveals the Losses Caused by Saudi-led Aggression, Siege

News - Yemen: On Sunday, the Ministry of Transportation held a press conference in the capital, Sana'a, during which it revealed part of the damage and losses caused by the US-Saudi aggression and siege. The Ministry stated that the estimated direct and indirect losses in the civil aviation, meteorology and related sectors since the start of the aggression until March 2021 amounted to nearly $6 billion.

It indicated that the direct and indirect losses and damages to its facilities alone amounted to $208 million. It pointed out that the damage to various means of land transportation, roads and bridges amounted to 13 thousand.

The Ministry confirmed that the estimated direct and indirect losses that affected the Red Sea Ports Corporation amounted to $2 billion, while the losses of the General Authority for Maritime Affairs amounted to $12 million.

The ministry announced that closure of Sana'a International Airport and the ban on flights caused the death of 80,000 cases, explaining that more than 450,000 incurable disease cases urgently need to travel abroad for treatment.

The Minister of Transportation, Amer Al-Marani, stated that the blockade imposed on Yemen has led to a significant and unprecedented rise in the costs of land, sea and air transport. He pointed out that the continuation of maritime piracy on fuel ships, despite having licenses, means disturbing life for every Yemeni, and this is a crime of genocide.

He pointed out that millions of sick children are threatened with mass death as a result of the continuation of the siege and preventing the entry of medicine. He also affirmed Sana'a International Airport is ready to receive all flights, calling on all free people and the United Nations to pressure to open the airport to hundreds of thousands of Yemeni patients.
