Pro-Saudi Government in Southern Yemen Leading Currency Collapse Continuous

Yemen: The collapse of the local currency continues in the southern governorates, the dollar cost rises against the local currency to double compared to the capital Sana’a and the liberated governorates, it costs over a thousand riyals per dollar.

This affected all aspects of and the necessary requirements of life. Citizens say that life is no longer bearable and that the economic and livelihood reform is hopeless. The institutions that are supposed to find solutions have been closed for six years.

The direct reason for this crisis is that Riyadh’s mercenaries printed billions of riyals without a cash cover, targeting the economy of the capital Sana’a and the provinces that are resistant to the US-Saudi aggression. However, Sana’a faced this with measures that succeeded in thwarting the dumping of the provinces with the recently printed currency; the national currency remained maintaining its value, costing six hundred riyals per dollar.

The marches, demonstrations and even protests that took place in Aden, Hadramout and other governorates at the beginning of this year and for three consecutive months to demand the achievement of the minimum service requirements, all failed, and the reason is that there are no officials! The cities are crowded with military camps and prisons.

The fact is that after the Saudi-Emirati coalition transformed the recruits who were active during 2015 and 2016 in front of the recruitment centers, into powerful forces and armed gangs that shared control, including public facilities and real estate, without the presence of a deterrent force or the authority to hold them accountable and punish.

The Emirati transitional blames the Saudi-formed government late last year. The latter was expelled from Aden in mid-March 2021. Part of its members rode the sea, before the rest returned to Riyadh hotels. This caused a new break in the faltering Saudi-Emirati settlement.

The question is who is responsible?! The Emirati Transitional Council considers Mae’en government incapable, corrupt and unacceptable in Aden, while it controls the military, security and administrative levels through a governor affiliated with Abu Dhabi and denied the government formed by Riyadh.
