Water Company Warns of Environmental Disaster Due to Continued Detention of Fuel Ships

News - Yemen: The Local Corporation for Water and Sanitation in Sana'a, renewed its warning against the sewage treatment plant stopping and the resulting environmental disaster as a result of the continued detention of fuel ships by the US-Saudi aggression.

During a protest, the Water company indicated that it is going through a fuel crisis that threatens to stop the pumps of water wells, which amount to 70 wells, which produce one million and 150 thousand cubic meters of drinking water.

The statement pointed out that the sewage treatment plant and maintenance mechanisms and equipment are about to stop as a result of the continued detention of fuel vessels by the US-Saudi aggression, which will also deprive nearly five million people in the capital of drinking water.

The statement held the United Nations fully responsible for all the consequences of the continued detention of fuel ships, depriving millions of drinking water and environmental damage as a result of the failure of work in the sewage treatment plant and its suspension.

The statement called on the international community and the human conscience to take serious positions to stop the arbitrary practices of the US-Saudi aggression against the Yemeni people, calling on the international community and the UN to release the detained fuel ships.

The official spokesman for the Yemeni YPC (Oil Company), Sesame Al-Mutawakel, indicated that the situation today has become catastrophic, despite warnings and vigils in front of the United Nations office, without moving a finger.

He stressed that the United Nations has become a partner in the siege of the Yemeni people and turns a blind eye to the oil wealth that is being looted, estimated at nearly $165 million per month.

Al-Mutawakel demanded an end to maritime piracy on fuel ships, especially since they are purchased and their value transferred in advance to shipping companies, and there is no legal justification for their detention.

The employees of the YPC demanded to stop the arbitrary practices of the countries of the coalition of aggression and their continued detention of fuel ships, holding the countries of aggression and the UN responsible for the catastrophic consequences of the continued piracy on fuel ships and the suspension of service sectors.
