Electricity Ministry Holds US-Saudi Aggression Responsible for Stopping Power Stations

News - Yemen: The Ministry of Electricity and Energy held the US-Saudi aggression and the United Nations responsible for stopping the ministry's power stations due to a lack of fuel, which threatens a humanitarian catastrophe if the fuel tankers continue to be detained.

The ministry confirmed in a statement during a protest organized, Monday, in cooperation with the employees of the Yemen Petroleum Company, in front of the United Nations office in Sana’a, that the aggression with preventing the entry of fuel tankers, directly targeted petrol stations and service facilities affiliated with the Ministry.

The statement condemned the aggression's use of fuel as a weapon against civilians and vital facilities that depend on electricity, such as hospitals, water pumps and sewage stations.

The ministry appealed to the international community to pressure the coalition of aggression to neutralize the facilities and service sectors, including the facilities of the Ministry of Electricity that provide services to citizens, and to work to ensure the continuous flow of fuel and allow the entry of spare parts for the maintenance of stations, networks and transformers that were affected as a result of the bombing and siege.

In a statement, they held the United Nations Office, the Humanitarian Coordinator in Yemen, the Office of the UN Envoy, and the organizations operating under the United Nations responsible for the suffering of the Yemeni people as a result of the aggression, the siege, and the continued detention of fuel tankers.

Last week, The Yemen Petroleum Company announced that the US-Saudi aggression continues to detain six fuel tankers carrying 144,667 tons of fuel for nearly five months.

In a statement, the company stated that the forces of aggression seized 6 fuel tankers, including one carrying domestic gas, and five other tankers carrying (135,179) tons of diesel and mazut.

It indicated that the detention period of these tankers amounted to "143" days, despite the fact that all of these tankers completed all examination and audit procedures through the mechanism of the Djibouti Verification and Inspection Mission (UNVIM) and obtained UN permits.

The company's statement noted that "the continuation of criminal piracy and its various catastrophic repercussions has not been matched by any serious and tangible move by the United Nations, as it is the international body concerned with facilitating the entry of imports of basic goods."

On Thursday, the Yemen Petroleum company confirmed that the US-Saudi aggression continues to piracy operations of fuel derivatives tankers.
