Yemeni Air Defenses Shot Down Fighting Drone by US-Saudi Air Force

News - Yemen: The Yemeni Armed Forces announced that the air defenses had shot down a Chinese- made Wing Loong2 fighting drone operated by Saudi Air Force in Sa'adah governorate, at dawn.

"Our air defenses shot down a fighting drone with a locally-made missile, in the airspace of Ketaf district, while violating UN-sponsored truce" the Armed Forces spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Sare’e said.
On Monday, The Yemeni Armed Forces spokesman, Brigadier General Yahya Sare'e, announced that the air defenses had shot down an CH-4 drone operated by Saudi Air Force in the Capital Sana'a.
"Our air defenses shot down a Chinese-made drone, CH4, with a locally-made missile, in the airspace of the Capital Sana'a," the Armed Forces spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Sare’e said.

The Air Defenses were also able, on December 8, 2021, to shoot down a CH-4 spy drone in Al-Wadi district in Marib, in addition to another ScanEagle drone over Al-Juba region in the same governorate.

Enjoying complete arms, logistical, and political support on the part of the US, Saudi Arabia and a number of its allies started a war against Yemen in March 2015 to restore power to Yemen's former Washington and Riyadh-aligned officials.

The war has stopped way short of the goal, while killing tens of thousands of Yemenis in the process and pushing the entire Yemen close to the brink of outright famine.

The Yemeni Armed Forces have vowed, though, not to lay down their arms until Yemen's complete liberation from the US-Saudi aggression.

Saudi Arabia is keen to bring in combat drones from multiple countries to gain qualitative air superiority, most notably US, China and Turkey.

With the ability of the Yemeni air defense to shoot down these drones despite their development, it limits the air superiority of the coalition of aggression, thus weakening the card it is betting on in the battlefield.

In the outcome of the air defense's achievements, the coalition of aggression lost dozens of its various aircraft, warplanes and drones.

In early April, the UN special envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, announced the nationwide ceasefire, for the first time since 2016, saying the two-month truce would be eligible for renewal with the consent of parties. The truce meant to halt all military operations in the country and to bring the foreign military invasion to an end.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said the truce "must be a first step to ending Yemen’s devastating war," urging the warring parties to build on the opportunity to "resume an inclusive and comprehensive Yemeni political process."

The deal stipulates halting offensive military operations, including cross-border attacks, and allowing fuel-laden ships to enter Yemen’s lifeline al-Hudaydah port and commercial flights in and out of the airport in the capital Sana’a "to predetermined destinations in the region."

The Saudi-led aggression continues to violate the truce by detaining new fuel ships, despite their inspection and obtaining permits from the United Nations, insisting on the closure of Sana’a Airport, as well as, the fires of the aggression side did not subside along the fronts, on the borders and inside. Shelling, reconnaissance, development and crawl, including a failed advance carried out by mercenaries towards Army and Popular Committee sites south of Marib.
