Al-Murtada: US-Saudi Aggression Foiled Implementing Over Ten Local Prisoner Exchanges Deals

News - Yemen: The National Committee for the Exchange of Prisoners revealed that the US-Saudi aggression had thwarted more than ten prisoner exchange operations agreed upon through local mediation.

The head of the committee, Abdul Qadir Al-Murtada, explained in a tweet on “Twitter” that the exchanges would have included more than “200” prisoners from both sides.

Al-Murtadha stressed that the committee made every effort to make the operations successful, but the intransigence of the aggression’s mercenaries thwarted the implementation of the operations.

About two weeks ago, the Committee confirmed that the US-Saudi mercenaries continue to be intransigent and procrastinating in submitting statements regarding the prisoner exchange agreement.

In a tweet, Al-Murtadha stated that the UN representative and his team are in a state of lethargy and indifference towards the prisoner exchange agreement.

On June 10, the head of the National Committee of Prisoners confirmed to Almasirah, that the past April and May were supposed to be two crucial months for the exchange and ratification of prisoner statements in accordance with the agreement signed in March under the auspices of the United Nations, but the other party is clearly procrastinating.

He revealed that the US-Saudi mercenaries set new conditions, including adding names that were not agreed upon, and refraining from submitting their prisoners' lists.

Al-Murtada noted the weak UN performance in the face of mercenaries, stressing that the office of the UN envoy does not exert any pressure on US-Saudi mercenaries to implement what was agreed upon in the issue of prisoners.

"We hope that the new truce will not end without noticeable progress in the prisoner exchange issue, as happened in the previous truce," Al-Mortadha wrote in another tweet.
