Antiquities Authority: Saudi-Backed Militants Destroy 28 Islamic landmarks in Several Governorates

News - Yemen: The General Authority of Antiquities announced that the Saudi-backed militants destroyed more than 28 Islamic archaeological landmarks in several Yemeni governorates, the last of which was the Al-Noor Mosque in the Saudi-UAE occupied Khokha District in Hodeidah Governorate.

The authority indicated that it had repeatedly warned of the danger of destroying Islamic cultural capabilities, renewing the call to stop the systematic destruction of ancient Yemeni antiquities under the cover of the US-Saudi aggression and mercenaries.

it stressed at the same time that the aggression is also stealing, smuggling and selling Yemeni antiquities in auctions and global markets.

It is noteworthy that the archaeological Al-Noor Mosque was built by the Rasulid King Al-Mudhaffar 771 years ago, and it was renovated during the era of the Ottoman Empire.

The crime of destroying the mosque, which was carried out by the so-called Giant Ninth Brigade of the forces of the US-Saudi-Emirati aggression, received widespread condemnation, calling for an end to the occupation and its tools of tampering with the history of Yemen’s monuments and historical cities that are subject to obliteration and distortion.

It is not the only destroyed mosque that the aggression has targeted in the past eight years. In a document released last month, a rights group has published the number of killed and injured by the US-Saudi aggression and number of destroyed mosques in the past 2600 days.

According to Eye of Humanity Center (Ain al-Insiyah Center) for Human Rights and Development, 46,374 civilians, including nearly 14,000 women and children were killed and injured as a result of the direct bombing of homes, schools and markets.

During the 2600 days of the aggression, it said that about 1,622 mosques were destroyed by the US-Saudi aggression and its mercenaries.

Saudi Arabia, backed by the United States and regional allies, launched the war on Yemen in March 2015, with the goal of bringing the government of former Yemeni president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi back to power.

The US-Saudi aggression continues to target neighborhoods and populated areas and destroy the infrastructure and capabilities of the country, in light of a suspicious international silence.

The war has left hundreds of thousands of Yemenis dead and displaced millions more. It has also destroyed Yemen’s infrastructure and spread famine and infectious diseases there.
