Riyadh Must End Aggression on Yemen Return to Dialogue with Sanaa, French Report

News - Yemen: The French website, Revo Defense Nationale, highlighted the US support for the war on Yemen, US fears of the consequences of the war's continuation, and the military capabilities of the Yemeni Armed Forces in striking the Saudi and Emirati depths.

The website said in a report that since 2015, Yemen has witnessed a series of foreign military interventions, and the Saudi-led coalition imposed a complete land, sea and air blockade on the country, which led to the United States' support for this campaign.

The report confirmed that the Yemeni Armed Forces’ attacks on the UAE in 2022 prompted the United States to deploy FA-22 Raptor aircraft to counter the attacks.

It asked: "As a result, is foreigne intervention in Yemen necessary as a defense strategy? And what role does the United States play in the outcome of this political-military crisis?"

The writer stated that in 2015, Saudi Arabia launched Operation Decisive Storm, which formed a diverse coalition of Arab countries, including the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, Egypt, Sudan, Morocco, and the Western countries the United States, France and the United Kingdom.

He added "despite their large striking forces, the Saudis and their allies faced a stubborn army... which resisted and the Saudi coalition confronted it fiercely. The reason for this was that the Yemeni army was in his country."

He continued "Saudi leaders still view Yemen as a kind of regional dependency, so it is clear that they are engaged in the conflict."

He added, "Critics of the US role in Yemen are based on the fact that arms sales to Saudi Arabia could harm US interests in the long run... while Yemenis consider the humanitarian disaster to be caused by the United States."

The site wrote about Saudi Arabia's decision to intervene in Yemen, by launching airstrikes in 2015 with the United States support for Saudi Arabia militarily through the sale of F-fighter aircraft. 15, which constitutes most of what the Saudi Air Force uses to bomb Yemen.

It explained that US support for Saudi Arabia goes beyond arms sales and directly contributes to the escalation of the fighting, as it literally helps refuel Saudi planes while they bomb targets in Yemen.

Regarding the period between the beginning of the war and February 15, 2017, the US Air Force recorded 1,778 sorties for in-air refueling, including 7,564 operations to refuel coalition aircraft. Since many bombing sorties cannot occur without this procedure, it must be considered that the US Air Force is an active participant in airstrikes, including those that have killed civilians and destroyed civilian facilities.

The report confirmed that the Yemeni missile force launched attacks on the UAE in 2022, with drones, targeting oil facilities near Abu Dhabi Airport, noting that it warns foreign companies and citizens residing in the UAE that it will not hesitate to expand its goals to include larger sites and facilities in the coming period.

Since the beginning of the war, the UAE has played an active role in Yemen. In 2018, Emirati forces supported the Southern Transitional Council, a group of separatists who want to secede.

It pointed out that in this case, it can be estimated that if the UAE continues its military intervention in Yemen with the support of its mercenaries, it will encourage the Yemeni missile force and push it to target strategic Emirati facilities, and as a result, the foreigners residing in that country will undoubtedly leave.

At the end of the French report, the French report indicated that Saudi Arabia's current priority is to end this long-term conflict, explaining that: "Riyadh, which can no longer count on long-term US support, must propose a ceasefire and a return to dialogue with Sanaa."
