News - Yemen: An official source of the local authority in Taiz Governorate condemned, Saturday, the developments and criminal acts carried out by the US-Saudi-Emirati aggression on the Yemeni island of Mayon.

The source explained that the US-Saudi aggression is displacing the island's residents, replacing them with new settlers, and building military bases and housing units to bring about a demographic change on the island.

It stressed that what the occupier is doing represents blatant interference and a grave violation of Yemeni sovereignty and a clear violation of the Charter of the UN, the Arab League and the Yemeni.

It denounced the continuation of the US-Saudi aggression in its unwillingness to achieve peace, stop the aggression, lift the siege and end the occupation, which reveals the falseness of what it claims in its statements of its desire to extend the truce.

The source called on the UN to condemn the hostilities and work hard to stop the aggression, lift the siege and end the occupation, as it is an aggression against a free, independent and sovereign state.

Recently, The Ministry of Fisheries denounced the expansionist settlement activities of the Emirati occupation and its mercenaries, and the creation of military bases on the strategic island of Mayon.

In a statement, the ministry condemned Abu Dhabi's efforts to establish buildings and military bases for the occupying UAE forces, and to separate Mayon Island, which mediates the Bab al-Mandab Strait of Taiz Governorate, and annex it to the southern governorates under Emirati occupation.

The ministry stressed that this step represents a flagrant violation of Yemeni sovereignty, and comes within the framework of the aggression forces' moves to control the Bab al-Mandab Strait, in service of the Zionist enemy.

The statement pointed to the continuous violations committed by the UAE against the fishermen of Mayon Island and other fishermen in the occupied areas, displacing them and looting their property, with the aim of establishing military bases to serve the Zionist-American plans in the region.
