"The Emirati authorities forced the detainee of conscience, Maryam Al-Balushi, to assign a famous law firm in London to issue cases against human rights organizations on charges of spreading false news about her, in exchange for promises of release," the center for the Advocacy of Emirates Detainees said.
The center stated that despite Al-Balushi's approval of the offer, and giving her an agency to the office to direct warnings to human rights organizations and issue cases, the authorities did not release her.
The State Security Prosecutor, Al-Balushi, bargained for accepting to issue cases against human rights organizations in exchange for her release.
He convinced Al-Balushi that they would issue a case against these organizations for spreading false news about her that she is serving a 3-year prison sentence, while she will be out of prison.
The officer promised her that the Emirati authorities would bear the high fees of the law firm, and that she would be released after her approval, but the government broke its promise, and did not release Maryam, although the office sent warnings to human rights organizations.
