Although Operational, Equipment Urgently Need to Be Replaced, in Hodeidah Port After US-Saudi Bombings

News - Yemen: The member of the Supreme Political Council, Jaber Al-Wahbani, and the Prime Minister, Abdulaziz bin Habtoor, were briefed on the extent of damage to the berths, cranes, incubators, and equipment of the port of Hodeidah, as a result of the direct US-Saudi aggression targeting.

During the visit, accompanied by a number of state officials, they met the CEO of the Yemeni Red Sea Ports Corporation, Captain Mohammad Ishaq, who explained the extent of the damage to the berths, cranes, incubators and equipment of the port of Hodeidah as a result of the aggression targeting and putting it out of service. Ishaq indicated that US-Saudi aggression was aimed, at targeting the port, to humiliate the Yemeni people.

He stressed that the port continued to receive the needs of the Yemeni people for food and medicine, despite the severe difficulties facing the port due to the outage of most of the equipment.

He pointed out that a number of United Nations programs promised, more than once, to provide and maintain the port's equipment to return to work at its full capabilities, but they have not fulfilled their promises to date. He pointed out that there are many pieces of equipment in urgent need to replace them with new ones and some for maintenance so that the port can restore its capabilities to what it was before the aggression.

In turn, member of the Supreme Political Council, Jaber Al-Wahbani, and Prime Minister Bin Habtoor praised the steadfastness of the leadership and cadres of the port of Hodeidah, despite the targeting and siege that the port was subjected to.

They stressed the importance of the port of Hodeidah, which represents a lifeline for the Yemeni people, as it is the main port for the entry of foodstuffs and other basic commodities for the Yemeni people.

Al-Wahbani and Bin Habtoor affirmed the Salvation Government's keenness to provide the necessary capabilities and needs, according to the available to the port of Hodeidah, so that it continues to play its role in receiving the needs of the Yemeni people.

For his part, the Minister of Transport, Abdulwahhab al-Durra, called on the United Nations and the international community to quickly lift the blockade imposed on the port of Hodeidah, repair what was destroyed by the aggression, and fulfill the promises made to repair the cranes that were destroyed by the aggression.

He stressed that the port, which serves more than thirty million citizens of the country, must return to what it was in terms of equipment and capabilities that were targeted by the coalition countries since the first day of their aggression.
